The papers here collected are written solely for members of the Masonic Order, constituted under the United Grand Lodge of England. To all such they are offered in the best spirit of fraternity and goodwill and with the wish to render to the Order some small return for the profit the author has received from his association with it extending over thirty-two years. They have been written with a view to promoting the deeper understanding of the meaning of Masonry; to providing the explanation of it that one constantly hears called for and that becomes all the more necessary in view of the unprecedented increase of interest in, and membership of, the Order at the present day.

This book is great for anyone looking to know more about Freemasonry and it's beginnings. However, as this book is quite old the writing is very tough to read unless you have a stellar vocabulary and a good understanding of 19th century English. I would recommend this book to any Freemason or one who just wishes to research but I would also advise one to look into one of several similar books that are more modern and much easier to read.
Highly recommended for the new master mason seeking further light in masonry. This book is written in an easy to read style by a very very competent brother of the craft. A great starter book for he basic outlines of craft symbolism.
a nice, succinct read on the workings of masonary. some snipits of history, but mostly ritual based descrpitions. a good, general read that has a warm feel. it's not too long either
although this book was written for the Masonic members, its great for the non-masons too. it concentrates into the philosophical side of the Free-Mason. if you want to know the history of free-masons, this book isn't for you. but if you want to know the inner-meaning, spirituality of the masonic society...its a great book to read.
W.L.Wilmshurst has researched Masonry the way it should be.Anyone who wants to read a book that helps explain Masonry the way it should READ this.To any of the Brothers who want to learn more about our Craft this is a good book to start with. There is not long drawn out explaining done here. It's all put to where it can be easily understood.I found this book very good reading to help on the path of Light. Saints John Lodge#507 Meridian MS
