Meanings of philosophy
People's interest in philosophy bears evidence of alertness and shaking off the dust of laziness and stagnation from their minds. Philosophy accompanied Islamic civilization at its peak, to the point that Abu Ya'qub al-Kindi, the Arab philosopher, described it in his letter to the Caliph al-Mu'tasim Billah in The First Philosophy, saying: The highest status of human industries, and the most honorable in rank, is the industry of philosophy. Auguste Kmet believes that humanity passes through three roles: the religious role, the metaphysical or philosophical role, and the scientific role. If it is said: We are in the age of science and there is no need for us to go backwards to the age of philosophy, we say: But we are at the dawn of the renaissance and we must pass through the period of philosophy, so that there is no gap or mutation between the two eras. This raises the question: Did the divorce really occur between science and philosophy? Or does humanity still need them all?!
