A code that only she can break... A man that only she was made for...

Julie Trueblood's name is found alongside an encrypted message in the safe deposit box of a dead man, bringing Navy investigator Hank Jared to her door, looking for answers. The daughter of the most infamous spy of the twenty-first century, Julie denies any knowledge of the man or the cipher and sends Hank away.

Hank is supposed to be in the Adirondacks walking his sister down the aisle, not chasing leads on a John Doe murder investigation that doesn't even appear to be Navy-related. He's a military man through and through, and while an order is an order, he hasn't given up hope of finding a way to make the ceremony. Sparks fly between Hank and Julie as they work to defend against a hidden enemy and discover the truth from the past. When Julie's life is threatened, he finds the perfect place to hide her, right by his side, pretending to be his girlfriend at the wedding. Now he just has to remember their relationship is all an act.

The coded message brings Hank and Julie together, but its secrets hold the power to tear them apart. Guided by her generous and quirky Aunt Gwen, Julie will gather the courage to unravel the cipher that was meant for her to decode, as she learns to trust the man she was meant to love.

Meet the Author

I'm a USA Today bestselling author with three kids, a husband, a slightly stinky and poorly trained dog, and an ancient calico cat who doesn't like people.

My house is in a perpetual state of disarray despite my constant attempts to clean it. Old women at grocery stores tell me how lucky I am, that it all goes so fast, and I nod my head and say something pithy like, "It sure does!" while trying to keep the baby from changing the language on the card reader screen or voiding my entire transaction.

I'm that woman.

People ask when I find time to write, and I point to my husband, the sweet frazzled sight of him as he hoses down a screaming child with one hand and unloads the dishwasher with the other. That, my friends, is romance. Well, it's what the best romances turn into if you're lucky.

As you read this, I'm probably putting someone into time-out, cleaning something, or explaining to my progeny why I put him/her into time-out or why I shouldn't have to clean whatever it was I just cleaned. Or maybe, if your timing is just perfectly right, I'm sitting on the purple reclining loveseat in a basement full of toys, writing my next big novel while my husband takes care of the chaos for a while.

For him, and for the kids and the stinky, cranky pets, and for the opportunity to tell you a story, I am grateful. I hope you enjoy my work.

great story line and characters - I enjoyed reading this book and I read a lot, so believe me I wouldn't recommend a book unless it's worth it. Enjoy

First of all, I never read romance - I normally find it all about the author trying to sell the story through sex. Amy Gamet caught my attention by not selling sex. Romance and sex are not the same, and she obviously knows that! Her story is full of twists that keep you reading to find out what happens next. Something disastrous does not happen to each character, which makes it more believable. Her characters have a 'personal' side that mimics how real people feel in certain situations. Although this book was free from the author in exchange for an honest review, I will be purchasing Book 2 after reading an excerpt. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast moving story you can bury yourself in.

Pleasant reading, a nice romance with some suspense thrown in for good measure. Likable main characters.

I enjoyed thus book. Wishing for a different line where her hair came from. But still really good.

I really liked this one! Julie has a past she's worked hard to keep hidden. Hank is a naval officer investigating Julie's father's death. Hank feels an incredible pull towards Julie and has an uncontrollable desire to keep her safe. They're running for their lives and to protect those they love, but can Julie trust Hank? This was a fast paced, fast read that kept me engaged the entire time. Loved it!!

An easy fast read only 120 pages, cute story. Some suspense but needed more depth, ending seemed rushed.

Some suspense, up-and-down love affair, fairly predictable.

Great spin on the story. Once you start, you won't want to put the book down. Loved the characters and how the author kept you guessing until the ending.

I enjoyed this book. The story was a little different from the norm and the characters had some depth w/o being ridiculously perfect. The editing was not bad compared to many free books and there was no descriptive sex. Romance is so much better w/o the raunchy sex scenes. I would definitely read more from this author.

Could have been great, the story line and characters were there, but transitions were poor or non-existant. Read like an outline. Needs development. Disappointing!
