I've read every book in the Deadwood Series by Ann Charles. Her books are set in, just like it says, Deadwood, South Dakota. Her main character Violet Parker is like many women today. A single mother with 2 kids trying to make a living, while juggling a gorgeous boyfriend, who just happens to see ghosts. And let's just say that Violet stumbles into a talent all her own. If there's a mystery, dead or not so dead, trouble has a way of finding her in the most entertaining way. There's a cast of characters as quirky and funny as she is. Don't be afraid of starting mid-series either. Ann gives enough back story for new readers to get into the book with relative ease, without boring readers who've followed her books from the start. If you like mysteries mixed with the paranormal and a whole lot of laughter, this book and series is for you!

I’ve read all of Ann Charles’ books and I’ve never had a complaint about any of them and this one follows suit. I don’t know how she can write so many books and not have one bad egg in the bunch. You can pick up any of her books and be riveted to your seat until she decides to write The End. This book with all of the craziness of Violet and her friends and family and of course, don’t forget Elvis, makes for an enjoyable and surprising read. Plenty of plot twists and character building that you didn’t expect. If you are on the fence about if you should buy this book or not you will be doing yourself a big favor if you buy it. I’m looking forward to her next book.

This is another great book in the Deadwood series by Ann Charles. Love the relationship between Doc and Violet. Everyone needs an ol' man Harvey and his nephew Cooper in their lives. It has mystery, romance, ghosts, paranormal, aunts, kids, roosters, quirky friends and lots of entertainment. Can't wait for the next installment.

I have to say that this is my favorite book in this series. Violet is again neck deep in trouble. As always, Doc, Harvey and Natalie are there with her to help. But the surprise is that Cooper is helping too. He isn't sure he believes all that he is seeing, but he is there. Another adventure.

As with a bag of Lay’s potato chips where you can’t eat just one, with Ann Charles’ books you can’t read just one page! I can always be sure of a few things when I start one of the books in the Deadwood series, I will lose sleep, Violet and the great cast of characters that I so love will keep me laughing with their fun banter that only Ann Charles can so entertainingly create, and I will finish the story much too fast! Mean While Back in Deadwood was no exception! With Violet once again getting caught up in another dead body caper and Detective “Coop” Cooper breathing down her neck and now also Detective Hawke, Violet must once again look for clues as to what is going on in order to keep herself and her son safe. Along with her trusty sidekick and best friend Natalie and the rest of the gang…Harvey, Doc and Cornelius, Violet sets out to find the killer and along the way finds out some interesting information about herself and her ancestors from her Aunt Zoe and her ghostly friend Prudence! If you love this series, you are going to go absolutely hog wild for this latest adventure in Violet’s world where things are always hectic and crazy. Yes…Ann Charles has hit another home run with Mean While back in Deadwood and I think this is my favorite story so far but of course I say that after every book I read of this multi-talented author who can spin a yarn out of the top of her head! Thank you Ann for another exciting and fun story involving some of my favorite people! You ROCK!!!

So good I plan to read it again! Violet Parker, real estate agent to the departed, cannot get a break. Not only does her boss treat her like a Barbie doll to get sales he pimps her out to the next reality show with Ray along for the ride. As usual, Nat, Doc, and Old Man Harvey are by her side as she rides into another crazy predicament as Coop keeps a cautious eye on her. Perfect in its silliness, amazing in its sultriness, and just enough creepy mystery keeps me coming back for more. Ann Charles is a wonderfully witty writer who makes me laugh out loud and giggle to myself as I turn each page wanting more.

I love Violet, Doc, Harvey, and the rest of the characters in Deadwood! We finally get more answers to what exactly Violet is, but just as many questions. I'm curious on how it's all going to play out. As usual, there's lots of laughs and spooky action. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Another chapter in the chaotic life of hot mess realtor wannabe Violet Parker. This is by far the best one yet in the series and I am anxiously awaiting the next book! I was hooked from the first chapter of the first book Nearly Departed in Deadwood. Spooky, charming, creepy, a good dose of naughty and hilariously written. It's an easy read for those that like light reading. Anyone from a small town can relate to the goings on in Deadwood, aside, hopefully, from the mysterious ghosts that happen to pop up at the most inopportune times. Complete with the usual suspects of quirky characters, a misogynistic co worker, oversexed senior citizen, and a hunky boyfriend it had me laughing from the beginning till the end!

Ann Charles keeps things hopping in Meanwhile Back in Deadwood. Ann builds her story gradually till you can hardly wait to see what is going to happen next. Her characters are unique and interesting. I really enjoyed this book #6 in the Deadwood Series. It is a must read. Good job Ann.

Love the author and this series but I have to agree with another poster, the story is starting to drag on a bit. We need more issues to be resolved before the story moves on. I'm glad to finally know what Violet is but I wish she would embrace it better and stop whining about being a killer. Someone needs to explain to her that what she is is a necessary evil (so to speak). She needs to take out creepy little Wilda Hessler y'know. I'd also like her to tell Doc that she loves him already, try a leap of faith will ya? When is Nat and Coop going to get it together, tired of waiting for that to happen and when will Coop and Wymonds houses sell?

You can not go wrong with an Ann Charles story if you enjoy weird happenings, insanely funny people, mystery, romance, and first class snarky remarks. And lots of paranormal activities in Deadwood. Read the series. You'll be glad you did!

Too much writing spent revisiting history. And too many wry, sarcastic quips by Vi, and the story implodes....as does the cost. Lost me. Kitt

Love the series but feels like the story is starting to drag on. Finally got answers to Violet and how she plays into the paranormal world. However, the relationship with Doc is moving at a snail pace.
