A throwback to wholesome heartthrobs like Pat Boone, Clay Aiken is an unlikely pop star who resembles a young Barry Manilow -- Aiken won't have any parents worrying that their kids' idol worship will lead them to drink or drugs. But anyone who watched him during the 2003 season of American Idol already knows that the North Carolina native's selling point isn't his sex appeal, or lack thereof. Rather, his standout quality is his powerfully soulful vocals. Although he was the show's runner-up to Luther Vandross clone Ruben "Velvet Teddy Bear" Studdard, Aiken's melodramatic "This Is the Night" topped Studdard's anthemic "Flying Without Wings" to become the year's bestselling single. Aiken's debut album, which producer Clive Davis packs with polished, adult contemporary fare, capitalizes on the young crooner's appeal to adolescent girls who haven't yet discovered their inner bad girl and to middle-aged women in search of a gentleman. The songs are expectedly middle-of-the road, and without a live audience and judges to win over, Aiken's dynamic voice loses some of its punch. Still, there are plenty of hummable highlights, notably the catchy lead single "Invisible," the country-tinged "The Way," and the haunting soft rocker "No More Sad Songs." Although the charismatic Studdard's disc may reaffirm why he was voted the American Idol champ, the measure of this man means staying true to himself, even if that calls for being a tad nerdy. And for that reason, Aiken may be one of the coolest pop stars around.

I have no doubt that this new album will be the best I have ever owned and will get played and played and enjoyed!! Some of the names of writers and producers on this album are the very best in the business - and then there is Clay's incredibly astonishing voice! If you have not had the pleasure of listening to this new artist, I highly recommend his sales record-breaking single with This is the Night and Bridge Over Troubled Water. Clay's breathtaking single is just a prelude for his upcoming album which I am sure will be remarkable!!

A couple of months ago Clay was not a household name now everyone knows, loves and respects him. The title of his album says how much he has grown on people in the world as an artist and a human being. People all over love this man no matter how old they are. God has given Clay this chance to make people smile again.

Clay Aiken is one of the brightest stars shining right now. He has the face of a boy-next-door with the sound of a seasoned professional. He (and his talent) will be around for a long, long time. I look forward to hearing more of Clay as the years go by.

Fresh. Emotional. Sincere. Heart-wrenching. True. Full-voiced. Passionate. All these words describe Clay's golden vocalizations, yet they still come quite short of doing him justice. "Measure of a Man" is an ironically fitting title for his debut album - although clearly talented before, Clay has grown by leaps and bounds as an artist. (Somehow I have no doubt that his personality, the core of who he is, would have grown in the same manner whether he had been part of AI2 or not.) This man will touch a great many people in whatever he does, and will likely succeed by a landslide. Here's wishing him the greatest of God's blessings in his life.

I was fortunate to go to the American Idol Concert. There, Clay sang "Invisible", one of the songs to be on this CD. Wow, what a great song! So, I expect the rest of the CD to be great also. Can't wait to get it.

I've heard 5 clips from this album - all mid tempo, all showing off his beautiful range, and I kept wishing for more NOW. I saw Clay perform "Invisible" magnificently in concert on two occasions to the delighted screams of hoards of fans. Can't wait to get the album on my CD player; I will also be ordering it as Christmas gifts for my nearest & dearest (Clay hopes each of us will buy seven!) You won't regret buying this album; forget the accusation of Broadway sound only. Beware, ladies: Clay's voice will give you the shivers. And guys, listen if you dare - you'll know what your competition is. And you're sure to score big points with your SO if this album is under the tree. Proud to be a Clay Aiken fan; proud of the Bubel/Aiken foundation for special needs youngsters. Clay has the talent & the character - he deserves to be a star. If you can find any clips, listen & you'll understand why.

Okay, just poking a little fun at the rabid claymates. Obviously I have not heard anything from this album except for a few clips that have been leaked online. It will probably be classic male pop, sans the hip hip and r&b influence a la Justin Timberlake. I think I am like most of his other fans in that I will definitely buy this album for the simple fact that Clay sings beautifully, and is incredibly gorgeous on the album cover. *hopes that there are more pictures in the CD booklet*

I heard cuts of this pre-relesed by RCA. I especially loved the rich tones he diplays in "Run To Me." His voice is clear, powerful, multi-faceted and memorable. We are witnesses to a true legend in the making.

Being a resident of NC (the Raleigh area), I am obviously so proud of our "local boy" who is showing the rest of the world just why we love him so much. When you hear Clay's first single ("Invisible") and the other wonderful songs on Measure of a Man, you'll see how this amazing man can sing anything - pop or ballads - and still blow you away. Here's to our local rising star .... and to his latest achievement, Measure of a Man. Shine on, Clayton .... shine on!!

(Only half of these songs have been prereleased to sample online, so I base my review on those, as the album isn't out yet). No one else sings with the power, range, style, and gorgeous tone that Clay does. All of these songs are new - no covers! They have great stylings, melodies, lyrics, and beat, and then the best part - Clay's voice. These songs are catchy, hang around in your head, and sound so great you're really happy to have them there. Perfect Christmas gift for anyone on your list, but get your own first - these will sell out FAST.

Like many others, I fell in love with Clay the minute he started performing on American Idol. After seeing him live in concert, I could not be more impressed by him. He has a beautiful voice, not to mention that adorable face and smile. We got to see him perform a couple of his songs off his new album, and they are great! I will definitely be first in line to pre-order this cd and any others he releases in his lifetime!

The boy can sing. He has charm, he is adorable. I love his voice and his personality. His voice melts your heart and sends shivers up and down the spine. The thing I like most is he hasn't changed and won't change for anyone! I love this boy!
