This is the latest edition of a book on joint measurement that incorporates the theory and concepts of goniometry with detailed descriptions and photographs of the specific procedures involved in measuring all of the joints of the human body. It also includes specific information regarding the normal function of each joint, the effects of aging and gender on joint function, and a review of the current literature regarding evaluation of joints. The purpose is to provide a comprehensive instructional guide to goniometry that is useful in the classroom and student lab, and in the clinical setting. It effectively meets its goal of being a user-friendly text and a reliable resource manual for all those involved with the evaluation of joints. The book is appropriate for students in health care professions that are responsible for patient evaluation as well as for professionals in the clinical or research setting. It is both an instructional guide and a reference manual. The book includes effective photographs to demonstrate specific skills as well as charts and tables that provide normative data regarding joint function. References pertinent to each joint are included and current data and trends in joint evaluation are reviewed. This book is a very useful manual for instructional and reference purposes in the measurement of joint motion using the universal goniometer. It brings together the general concepts of the functional anatomy of joints and provides detailed procedures for the measurement of joint motion.
