Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“The patterns are complex and beautiful—knit in one piece and steeked. They are worked in fine yarn in colors based on how the paintings look today, muted and earthy. Fans of fine colorwork, this is a book worth seeking out.”—Knitty.com
Library Journal
Inspired by 15th- and 16th-century church paintings in her native Sweden, Lundberg sought with her first book to recreate the stunning colors and all-over designs in knitwear. Swedish yarn and Scandinavian techniques are used to create the sweaters and accessories in this book, and each pattern includes narrative instructions as well as the necessary charts. The result is a close cousin to classics of colorwork like Alice Starmore's long-out-of-print Tudor Roses—works of art made wearable. VERDICT Though this book appeals to a specialized audience—knitters with an interest in traditional stranded colorwork and the skills to make such detailed patterns—those knitters are passionate about their craft, and will appreciate Lundberg's inspiring collection.
