January 1

Rushing/Frenzy

Anything worth doing is worth doing frantically.
-- New proverb

We women who do too much find the ending of an old year and the beginning of a new year to be a difficult time. There is always the temptation to try to "tidy up" all our loose ends as the old year closes. We fall into the trap of believing that it is possible to get our entire life "caught up" before starting a new year, and we are determined to do it.

Also, there is the temptation to set up an elaborate set of resolutions for the coming year so that we can, at last, get it right. As workaholics, we tend to be very hard on ourselves: nothing less than perfection is enough. Hopefully, on this first day of the year, we will be able to remember that we are perfect just as we are.

I hope for the willingness to live this year in a way that will be gentle to myself ... one day at a time.

Meditations for Women Who Do Too much

I find daily readings, that I can relate to help me get centered and help me focus on my life problems and not get grasped into a state of panic. Even though I live alone and have no family where I think women can be doing too much, I can use this meditation book to assist me. I can relate to every day's readings in some way. Find it helpful in general.

    An Deeply Enlightened Perspective

I have been using this book as a daily meditation for many years. It is an honor and priviledge to share that Dr. Schaef, who has obviously been there done that (her work on co-dependence is profound), speaks loudly and clearly to any woman with deep inner challenges and spiritual disconnects. For those of us who have tried to do it all - the high stakes career and being super wife, parenting at the same time and then seriously trying to create a picture book family, voluteering for every under the sun to save the world that we think is broken, creating perfect children, then finding yourself back to being single, realizing that your perfectionism is killing you - THIS BOOK OF MEDITATIONS AND WISDOM IS A DAILY DOSE OF SANITY. My kudos are long overdue. Brava for this thoughtful, enlightened work!

I've enjoyed reading the daily words of inspiration each morning. The book really talks to "women who do too much" and helps remind us to look at our lives with graditude and joy. I highly reccommend this book.
