Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Caroline Abbott is a young girl sailing on the White Gull, a sloop that her father built at his shipyard. Along with her father, Caroline's cousins, Lydia and Oliver, are on board. A British officer, Lieutenant Morris, gets on board the White Gull and takes Mr. Abbott and Oliver as prisoners because a war has been declared between Britain and America. Caroline and Lydia are separately escorted home. Caroline breaks the news to her mother and grandmother. They must find a way to get Mr. Abbott released and back home. First, they must save Sackets Harbor from the British invasion. The story is set at the start of the War of 1812; the author includes a section at the end of the book that provides some description to situate the story. This book is the first in the "Caroline's Stories" series which is part of the "American Girl" books that feature young, courageous girls in different periods of American history. An excerpt from the next book in the series, Caroline's Secret Message, is included. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung

It has alot more action in it then the other American Girl books. It is about a girl named Caroline who's father was kidnapped by the British. Will he ever come home. Find out in this amazing book

    This is a good book

This book is a good fiction book!!!And this book is good if you're lookingfor an adventure filled book!!!

This book is about a girl,Caroline Abbot, who loves to sail on Lake Ontaio with her papa. But when the Britsh came onto their sloop to tell her papa that they are now at war with the Americans!!!

My favorite part about this book is when she asked her dad to build her a sloop. My least favorite part is when her and her cousin almost fell off the sloop.

If you like this book then you will also like Meet Ceice
