Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Tiffany Erickson
From their humble beginnings in 1901 to the World Series champions in 2004 and 2007, the Red Sox have an impressive list of all-stars and Baseball Hall-of-Famers in the line-up. Only retired and former players are featured as the greats of Red Sox baseball, so readers will learn about Ted Williams and Jim Rice and come to appreciate the longevity of the club. Special attention is paid to both "Green Monsters" present at Fenway Park. One Green Monster is the huge green wall in left field is known as the Green Monster; the other t is Wally the Green Monster the team's cuddly mascot. Also, there is a seek-and-find picture featuring Dustin Pedroia and a very interesting limerick featuring Kurt Schilling. The famous "curse" is mentioned only in passing, and no mention is made of Babe Ruth, so little Red Sox fans will need to do some additional reading later to get the whole story. This book presents a basic introduction to a storied franchise. Reviewer: Tiffany Erickson
