Emergent readers for kids who are growing in confidence as readers, but still need some help.
Children's Literature - Marilyn CourtotBruce Wayne, aka Batman, is attending a party at the Gotham City Museum. Suddenly one of the statues, a dragon, comes to life and starts to wreak havoc. Bruce rushes to become Batman to see if he can tame the beast. Unfortunately the beast is too strong for him, so he calls on his fellow super-hero Superman. Even though the man of steel tries his best, he too is unable to capture the beast. They call on a third friend, Wonder Woman, who believes that there is some evil magic at work and that she can help. Working together, the three manage to capture the beast and order is restored. All of these super heroes have starred in their own stories, but they are brought together here with Wonder Woman given a very strong role in this level 2 book that offers a high-interest story for developing readers. The graphics appear to be computer generated and have a comic-book look, but each image fills a whole page in this entry in the "I Can Read" series where the first page or pages are used to introduce the characters.
