Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Meg goes for a walk with her dog Peg. Meg helps her neighbors and in her own way so does Peg. Children will enjoy watching Peg "help" because she causes more problems for everyone. Meg can always blame the cat! The text is written in Spanish. Sharon Holme's watercolor illustrations help the reader decode the text. This book is part of the "Read- It! Readers" series. The Readers are divided into levels purple, red, blue, yellow, green and orange. There is a note to parents at the beginning of the book that explains the levels and how parents can use the stories with their children. Other "Read-It! Readers" are listed. This book is at the second level, red. At this level the reader is presented with familiar topics, frequently used words, and repeating patterns. 2006, Picture Window Books, Ages 4 to 9.

Meet the Author

Susan Blackaby started writing in Mrs. Nichols' third grade class at Green Gables. She didn't think of becoming a writer until she had tried a few other things, including goat milking and weaving.

Over the past 20 years, Susan has written textbooks, workbooks, and readers by the dozen for kids in elementary school. In 2002, her first trade book, Rembrandt's Hat, was named one of the top ten picture books of the year by the Washington Post.

Susan lives in Portland, Oregon, with two people, two labs, and the nicest kitty in the world.
