Overview

Seven years ago, and seven miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, Dr. Jonas Taylor encountered something that changed the course of his life. Once a Navy deep-sea submersible pilot, now a marine paleontologist, Taylor is convinced that a remnant population of Carcharodon megalodon — prehistoric sharks growing up to 70 feet long, that subsisted on whales — lurks at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. When offered the opportunity to return to those crushing depths in search of the Megs, Taylor leaps at the chance… but the quest for scientific knowledge (and personal vindication) becomes a desperate fight for survival, when the most vicious predator that the earth has ever known is freed to once-again hunt the surface.

Meet the Author

Steve Alten grew up in Philadelphia and has several degrees, including a Doctorate of Education from Temple University. His first novel—Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror—was written over many late nights and weekends while Steve worked a “real job” to support his family. On Friday the 13th, he lost his “real job,” but four days later landed a two-book publishing deal.

Meg would eventually be sold in more than twenty countries, hit every major best-seller list (#19 on the New York Times) and even become a popular radio series in Japan.

Since then, Steve has written several more books in the Meg series, as well as novels and screen plays across a variety of genres and topics.

    LOVE THE MEG SERIES!!!

I bought this book when it first came out many years ago and I have been absolutely hooked since. Steve Alten writes a novel that is just amazing. It is fast paced and exciting. A little gory, but it is a shark book, you have to expect that. I was so happy to see this in e-book form!

    Entertaining

Steve Alten isn't the best writer, in fact the books have a tendency to be formulated, repeat unnecessary information, and can be a bit tedious in spots. However, if you are just looking for a fun read, something to break up reading more informative and well-written books, you could do worse than this.

    The best ever!!!

This was the very first book I ever read written by Steve Alten and it is still one of my absolute favorite books. I give it as a gift to friends who enjoy sharks and who enjoy adventure. This version is slightly different from the original, but the extra added beginning adds more to the story. I can't wait for the movie. Steve Alten is one of the best authors out there!

    Fantastic Work

Author Steve Alten works magic with Meg. Full of action, this title is near impossible to put down. I have read the Meg series 3 times over the past few years and can never get enough. You're drawn in from the prologue all the way to the turn of the last page. Highly recommend.
