Introducing Mega Mash-ups from Nosy Crow, an imprint of Candlewick Press!

These books take great subjects for boys and combine them into short, bonkers, and funny stories that are incredibly easy to read. The illustrations are bold and crazy, and there's plenty of space left on each page -- together with suggestions for how to fill it -- so kids can add their own drawings. The books read as hilarious, zippy stories that look a lot like novels but are terrific doodle books as well.

The Romans and Dinosaurs live together in a huge glass dome called Romasauria. They race their rocket chariots and feast on moon-cow and chips until life on Mars is threatened by a giant asteroid spotted by Augustus Astronomus through his giant telescope. Will a wooden catapult and some Dinosaur poop save the day? The Romans and the Dinosaurs are going to have to work together or it's KAPOW for life on Mars.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
We took one look inside and knew this was our kind of book. That's because it isn't something you just read. As the action unfolds, you help create the story by drawing in hilarious details.

What a clever idea. Here is the premise: The Romans and dinosaurs live together in a huge glass dome on Mars, but they do not exactly get along. What follows is a lavishly-illustrated story that needs the readers help. Sections of the illustrations are blank, and accompanied by instructions about what should be drawn in the space. Readers-turned-illustrators enjoy and assist in creative encounters including a Rocket Chariot Race and subsequent feast. Meanwhile, two dinosaur scientists are trying to make the planet a better place to live when they discover that an asteroid is coming. The hijinks that follow are an attempt to destroy the asteroid. This is a very funny book, thanks to both the narrative and the drawings. Drawing tools and tips are included as well as information about a website for the "Mega Mash-Up" series of books. A interactive book that would be perfect for summer vacation. Reviewer: Kristin Harris
