Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Karen Leggett
Dorothy Rich, who founded the Home and School Institute to foster a stronger partnership between parents and schools, originally developed the "Megaskills" program for children. She identified basic qualities critical for success such as confidence, perseverance, initiative, responsibility, caring, and teamwork. Her new book, published as part of the NEA Professional Library, provides "megaskills moments" to help teachers address issues of personal and professional development. Each page identifies a different problem -too many papers, a student who says his grade is unfair or another one who cheats. The "megaskill moment" that follows suggests a way to approach each problem-put papers into "do it now!" and "this can wait" piles, go over a student's old papers to help him see the reason for his grade, remind the cheater you are there to help so he won't feel the need to cheat. This small, helpful resource book will give you clues toward solving real problems or just brighten a blue Monday.
