This edition is the only German government funded and recognized version of Adolf Hitler's popular Mein Kampf (popularly known as My Struggle in English). James Murphy was invited by the NAZI Propaganda Ministry to translate the book in English so that the NAZI propaganda and vision can be disseminated in the English speaking countries too. This edition has both the volumes and is the James Murphy's original translation that you are viewing right now!
Mein Kampf was originally published in two volumes. Adolf Hitler started dictating Mein Kampf to Rudolf Hess when he was imprisoned in Festungshaft against the Beer Hall Putsch, a failed attempt of coup. One of the earliest translation was by James Murphy that received official recognition by the Third Reich.
Actually James Murphy's translation was officially funded by the NAZI party ruling in Germany in a time/era which they called The Third Reich. However later when James Murphy isolated himself from NAZI ideology and chanted negative remarks and comments that were against the NAZI party and rule he was told by the NAZI Propaganda ministry to leave German soil immediately.
He sent his wife later to Germany so that his original notes can be retaken. He completed his translation with the help of these notes.
Initially Hitler was naming his book "Viereinhalb Jahre (des Kampfes) gegen Lüge, Dummheit und Feigheit" or in English "Four and a Half Years (of Struggle) Against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice". However he accepted the suggestion of Mein Kampf by Max Amann who was the publisher of Hitler's book(s). He was so passionate about his thoughts and ideas that he predicted that book will be an instant bestseller and will do for all the expenses of NAZI party in the future.
The book was not an instant success as per the records of sales until the year 1931 up to 1933 when Hitler won Chancellorship in Germany.
A surge in the sales could be seen thereafter when Hitler already had started distancing himself from his first literary creation, his autobiography, Mein Kampf.
He was so submerged and preoccupied with his new status that he started to call it a mistake to write such book that he called "fantasy behind the bars".
The tax accrued for Mein Kampf was about 405,500 Reichsmark (About $1.5 Million in 2015) at the time he took up Chancellorship of Germany when his tax debts were written off.
By the time he had completed his first year as the chancellor of the Germany Mein Kampf had became an essential component of German social life. People are using the then Legendary book "Mein Kampf" for gifts, homage, education and for whatever, whenever possible. And by the time the WORLD WAR II ended the sales of Mein Kampf in Germany alone was toughing 10 Million mark. The book was running in top selling list for over a decade competing neck to neck and sometimes lagging behind the Bible.
Writing a book to disseminate his ideas concerning Nazism or Fascism had been important for Adolf Hitler until he finally reached his goal of Chancellorship. However, when the first book of two volumes, could not help him much in gaining ground in German politics he wrote his next book that was never published. Later in his last years, when the war was about to end, Adolf Hitler ordered his comrades to put the original manuscript in a locker under a shelter for Air Strikes. This book was an extension of NAZI viewpoints, ideas and propaganda. Hitler used his energy to further improve the NAZI ideology and engineer new components and enhance the former ones.
For racists and anti-Semites the world over, “Mein Kampf” remains a holy book. For more information: Click here

Citizens and voters become accustomed to hearing statements from politicians that are taken seriously only to the point where the election takes place. Even the most unusual or disturbing comments are passed off as political rhetoric, to be taken seriously only as a ploy to improve the chances of winning the election. If the politician wins the election, we then expect the duty and responsibility of the office to temper their actions down into a more reasonable and realistic configuration. If they lose the election, the citizenry largely ignores them.
Ironically and unfortunately, this was the expectation but not the reality of the political career of Adolph Hitler. In this book, originally published in 1925, Hitler made it quite clear that he had a deep hatred of Jews and would not hesitate to launch Germany on a war quest to conquer additional territory and enslave the "inferior" races currently occupying the territory. However, whether out of fear or delusion, most of the German people and other inhabitants of Europe did not take Hitler's ranting, as expressed in this book, seriously. It is often lost to history that Hitler was legally named Chancellor of Germany at a point when his electoral fortunes were fading. Many of the political power brokers in Germany felt that Hitler could be moderated and controlled once he took the responsibility of the Chancellorship of Germany.
This book is one of the most chilling and factual cases of "hiding in plain sight", as Hitler is so very explicit about his aims and yet few paid attention. If you have any interest in how Germany launched a war of conquest and genocide, then this is a book that you must read. In my opinion, it should be required reading in all political science programs. It is a stark reminder that an informed citizenry must pay attention to what politicians say, for while it is only rarely true, sometimes it is devastatingly so.

I Also Recommend:
There are a number of translations available, but the older translations were hard to read and contained thousands of errors plus many mistranslations.
This new Ford translation is the most accurate edition and the easiest to read version ever written. Many of the corrections were documented in the book Mein Kampf A Translation Controversy which clearly shows why the Ford translation is a superior translation to older English language versions.
Is this translation really better than Manheim or the other versions?
Let's look at some examples and see.
Here is the original German from a German language Mein Kampf published in 1938:
Sie beweist höchstens die Kraft der Eroberer und die Schwäche der Dulder.
Manheim translation: At most it proves the strength of the conqueror and the weakness of the nations.
Murphy translation: At most, the possession of such territory is a proof of the strength of the conqueror and the weakness of those who submit to him.
Reynal-Hitchcock translation: It proves at most the might of the conqueror and the weakness of the victim.
Ford translation: Gaining this territory only proves the might of the conquerors and the weakness of those who tolerate them.
The German word Dulder technically translates to `sufferer' but here it has only one meaning: a person who tolerates something. Manheim completely mistranslated the passage by using the word nations which is not the meaning here. Hitler often used the same word for race/people/nation but the difference is in the meaning and intent. The wording is also unusual in Manheim's version. The Ford translation is the easiest to understand and the only one that gives the real meaning of the passage. The Manheim translation is simply wrong.
Here is a GREAT example of the problems with Manheim:
Original German: Es ist hier nicht meine Aufgabe..(shortened to fit in this review)
Manheim translation: ??????? MISSING???????????
Ford translation: It is neither my task nor even my intention to point out the "If" in case the "But" had not been present. I do, however, feel that it is absolutely necessary for us to see the existing conditions as they truly existed, without coloring them, and to point out their terrible weaknesses, if only to deepen the knowledge so the situation may be understood within the ranks of the National-Socialist movement.
This is one of the passages which were omitted from the Manheim translation.
Manheim skipped it because the meaning was unclear to him. It is a complex sentnece, however simply leaving it out because you cannot understand it is astonishing.
Don't be fooled by amateur translators with a German-English dictionary who want to claim a German word means something different from the actual meaning. They fail to understand how to translate properly and think it is as simple as word substitution. A good translation is not based on the most common definition of one word, but on the sentence, the paragraph, even the chapter and especially the intent of the speaker.
This edition has corrected many errors in older versions and is more well researched than any previous version. I urge you to thumb through the Mein Kampf A Translation Controversy too.

The guy was a nutter, however much of what he says one can see in the world today. No I am not speaking of the racial nonsense. This is foolish and so clearly in error that it isn't funny. However if you replace race with culture, and look at it from that point of view. Much of what he says is very applicable to today and what is going on right now.
One should never forget the past, learn from it and move on.

I was reading the paper back version but it sadly fell apart...
I am in 8th grade. I had been talking to my social studies teacher and he believes that we should learn from the past but he believes that this is an EVIL book and that i should not read it. I am not saying that Hitler was not crazy or that this book is not evil, because both are true, but Hitler was also an amazing speaker....... To be able to tell nations that jews should die and make them beileve it is true, that is slightly amazing... Not that it is right. One of the reasons WW2 happened was because europe ignored things like these.

This was a great read. I was not sure if I should even read it but it turned out to be a great book. It was not at all what I was expecting and gave a great insight into Hitler's mind not to mention it was very educational.
This edition has many additional notes and a great introduction that helps you understand the book. The publisher also provides a supplementary book that explains more about it which helps you understand it even better, understand the history behind it, and it reveals some strange writing styles used. The supplement book also shows how this book was translated and why it is a better version than older editions.
I know this is a better edition because I compared it to the Manheim translation and what a difference! this one is easy to read and makes sense. The Manheim version is gibberish! I cant see how anyone would even buy Manheim when this edition is clearly superior.
No matter what you think of Hitler, get this book and you will learn something. You can easily ignore the few anti-Semitic parts if you find those offensive, they are only a tiny part of the book.

This is one of the books I had on my own "bucket list". It is a remarkable historical book. I find it almost incredible that anyone who read it in the 1920s (and millions did) could not see exactly what he would do when he gained power. Some of his words will raise your blood pressure, and he repeats himself terribly, but I am glad I read it.

I have read a review that said that this book helpd her look for what not to want in a politician but he was the best there ever was. There was a reason he came to power. He knew when to start his campaign again and don't be mistaken, he did fail a coiple times. He knew to " attack" and ut was when his country fell into hard economic times such as our "Great Depression" was for us. And another point yes he was human. But as little as is possible. He was ruthless on his quest for perfection but then they call him a prime example of pure evil but that is not quite a full truth. Yes I know I kind of countering my own point of view but I have multiple opinions about this conflicting man. He had more respect for architects than he had for his loyal officers. He had tried multiple times to pursue a career in the arts but was rejected. He is human and he has felt rejection and that has made deep and penetrating roots of hatred and loathing for a society tht had thrown him out onto the street worth as much as any rat. Although now having had just said that I will also stand by the fact that he barely had a heart to hold anytjing cloae to. His mistress Eva Braun had been disregarded but obviously something abiut this man made her stay. She must have recognised the demons un his eyes iland his soul but his power made her stay. His power and almost demonic nature caused a past lover, his neice, to take her own life because her inly chance to free herself was to go into God's accepting arms. What does this say about the man who willingly and knowingly sent mostly innocent people to their deaths? What do you think when you remember you grandparents who may have survived the horrid Holocaust and their memories that may still haunt them at niht and the regular life that has been ripped away from them. I am 12 years old. My name is Jenna Vieux and I just want my voice heard. I am just doing it in a way Hitler did not have a chance to and I dl not want to do what he did. I want to be thought of with respect. And if you could reply that would be great. Thanks guys.

Hitler was without a doubt the most evil man alive in his time. While reading his rantings you can see the depth of his insanity and the building strength of his hatred. It's difficult to read and accept the intensity of the vile filth in his mind. Mein Kampf is a good study for criminal justice students when trying to grasp the criminal mind but also for psyc students.

This is a repackaged version of Michael Ford's weak translation of "Mein Kampf." Most of the many errors in the first edition carry over into this one.

Don't bother buying this book. It will not open on my Nook color so I can read it. Just wasted $8.99 and customer service can't tell me why or what to do to fix it.

Just because people read the book and say that its good doesnt mean that he should have done what he did to his people. So dont be all the book is good. We shouldnot be able to speak about him unless we are learning about him he is a nobody in my mind. He was heartless and cruel who didnt know how to take responsibility. He blamed inocent people for germanys problems. Now ask ur self how do unfeel about that. Or put ur self in what the JEWS HAD TO GO TROUGH
