Memoirs of My Grandmother By: Lynn Pinkham Tate Publishing and Enterprises LLC 127 East Trade Center Terrace Mustang, Oklahoma 73064 978-160640102, $ 11.99, 2008, 150 pages Turning Common Place Events into Spiritual Analogies In a tribute to her grandmother Agnes Sevey, Lynn Pinkham has compiled ¿Memoirs of My Grandmother.¿ Pinkham has captured the soul of an amazing woman, filled with spiritual insight, always accepting, kind, gentle, never overbearing nor judgmental, witty, and intelligent. Lynn draws from her own personal memories and from the notes in the margin of ¿Grammy¿s¿ Bible to draw lessons on life from the scriptures in a topical, diary, devotional format. Grammy shared valuable lessons with Lynn on facing insurmountable circumstances, chronic illnesses, and devastating situations. Grammy Sevey had an uncanny gift for taking common place events and turning them into spiritual analogies for facing discouragement, depression, unbelief, doubts, the lack of faith, and the importance of choices. Lessons from the ¿Chicken Coop,¿ from the ¿Bird House,¿ or an airplane ride were among my favorites. I also found the devotional titled ¿More Than Conquerors¿ relevant and personally helpful. Grammy provided numerous scriptures and challenges for the reader to claim absolute victory to be conquerors through Christ, and to face trials, tribulations, and temptations. She pointed the reader keys for conquering sin and meeting the deceptions and ploys of Satan. Biblically based, filled with a refreshing approach, ¿Memoirs of My Grandmother¿ is not only nostalgic but is filled with nuggets of wisdom for finding the power to live in a godly manner. It is an ideal addition to anyone¿s devotional library or as a gift for family members or friends of any age.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
