Highly recommended - this is an insightful look into the life of the creator and author of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries (and other) books. In his own words, Conan Doyle describes growing up in Scotland, his life as a physician, his early forays into writing, travels to exotic parts of the world, reporting on two wars, family life, ventures into the political arena, marriages, fatherhood, and his eventual embracement of Spiritualism and abandonment of his Catholic upbringing. We end up seeing him as a kind, warm-hearted, sincere, brilliant, humble and at times just a little arrogant. Loved this book!
