About the Author

Douglas Kerr is an Honorary Professor and former Dean of Arts at Hong Kong University, and Honorary Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, University of London. His publications include Wilfred Owen’s Voices (1993), Eastern Figures: Orient and Empire in British Writing (2008), Conan Doyle: Writing, Profession, and Practice (2013), and Orwell and Empire (2022). He is General Editor of the Edinburgh Edition of the Works of Arthur Conan Doyle, for which he has edited Conan Doyle’s autobiography, Memories and Adventures (2022).
