    Super learning instrument

    I have used this book,for years,in all of my collegiate courses. It is a simmple, but highly effective learning tool that truly empowers students.I have seen the use of this technique,of visual and audio linkage, afford it's readers/practioners the ability to profoundy impact their learnig capacities.I still continue to receive thank you notes and calls from my former students, citing the successes they clearly attribute to their use of the memory expansion they have applied through out their lives.
    It is an affordable gem,and a rational alternative to the expensive highly promoted alternatives offerd.This is a book that I can guarantee will be a boost to anyone's learning capacity. My recommendation is without qualification.
    Prof. Jerry Hughes [ret.}

    Memory is a skill, which can be trained and improved - And is not necessarily related to I.Q.

    This is, in effect, a home study course on training and improving memory. What Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas intuitively found as workable constructs for memory, Science and Medicine are now confirming through research and evidence. (Of note: I am a practicing Physician, who gives Medical Seminars, including ones on the topic of 'Human Memory'. This does not qualify me as an expert, but I am versed in the subject.) Many books are available on memory; however, I consider this one the premier text for the 20th. and now, the 21st. Century. The principles are sound, as Science and Medicine are coming to discover through primary research in the arena of Memory.
    I first used this book in the late 1970's, to further train my memory skills, prior to entering Medical School, and have since re-read and studied segments, just as I practice the piano to maintain my skills as a classical pianist. I recently purchased these lasted printings for use in my seminars, and to have available for Patients. Owning the original First printing Hard Cover Edition and a first printing paperback (now falling apart), this latest printing appears unchanged from the original, as is appropriate. Do not be fooled by the copyright date, the content is still valid.
    This is not a "reader", but a study guide workbook, for those serious about maintaining and improving their memory. Short of dementing illnesses, stroke, etc., normal memory does not necessarily decline with advancing age, but can decline through lack of use and stimulation. My recommendation is without reservation, and remember, when and/or if you can, if you don't use it, you'll lose it.

    Wonderful Book!

    I honestly don't understand why Harry Lorayne's systems aren't being taught more in public schools. I don't doubt for a moment that students would be able to learn the material they are taught much more easily by applying these systems. To be honest, I was very skeptical about any memory improvement system, but then I saw someone do a demonstration for me, and I decided to get the book. When I did, I actually amazed myself and other people using the systems described in this book!

    Its Easy!

    This book is a lot of fun. It helped me get my present job, (there was a test that required memorization) and its also great for bar bets.:-) You'll love it!

    Fantastic- and simple! Method is explained in 18 pages, rest is examples

    This is a totally fantastic book. I found this in college. I worked more than full time, and attended class full time, at an Ivy League school. I kept a 3.5, on a scale of 4.0 as the max. I memorized my notes easily, before exams, and found essay exams fun, I do mean fun! His other books may be as good as this one. I do know this book inside and out, and it is fantastic!

    Over-rated

    It may be due to my search for a book that would truly help me improve my memory, not only for the short-run, but especially for the long-run, that I found this book disappointing. I find this book good for those who want to get a good great on a test or win a game without caring how much information the mind will retain post the occasion. Rather than developing our memory, that sort of memorization system will only help us know the information for mostly the time being. My interest in developing my memory is NOT to memorize a list of words right before an exam, or tricks for the bar; But rather, to be able to access it at a later time with more ease. By now I may be sounding too critical, and I apoligize if I am being interpreted as ungrateful, yet while I appreciate the authors' approach, I also think there are much better ways to increase the effectiveness of our brain, in this case our memory.
