Overview

The death of a parent or loved one can be overwhelming to anyone, but it can also open the heart to a vast wealth of memories. This story is just that; a weaving together of events, rumors and factual accounts as passed down through generations of relatives and friends in order to fill in the blanks and fill out the characters and bring them back to life for future generations.
The Memory Keepers is primarily a love story; the love between a couple overshadowed by a curse, the love of family and love hidden in the folds of another land. It is a story fringed with pain and tragedy brought about by an unspeakable crime and the need of a young girl growing into womanhood to find a clearer knowledge of her identity and a richer history from which to call upon, all the while making friends with the ghosts that had taken up residence in her heart.
The crime related is a true event as documented, but because of the events involved, the names of the protagonists have been veiled slightly to protect their privacy.

Meet the Author

Born in upstate New York where she also attended business school, Cheryl Blaydon began a journey that took her from New York to the Caribbean. Twenty years later, returning to the mainland, she began to pursue a life-long dream to paint. With her strong ties to Maine and Italy and a desire to capture the essence of both on canvas, the next step included classes at a small art school in Florida and many workshops in Maine. She now incorporates both painting and writing in her home studio in East Boothbay, Maine.
You can visit her at www.mainelyseascapes.com.

Highly recommended...one of the most tangible reads I've had in awhile!

You won't be able to put in down...an exquisitely written " memoir" creating a rich tapestry that begs one's own desire to "connect the pieces " of their past. You'll 'see, taste, touch ,smell and feel' the depths of all Italy has to offer and walk with the author through her reawakening and discovery , remorse and respect for her ancestors. You'll fall in love with certain characters and begin to parallel your own relatives with them..wondering if there's a secret in your family history... Ms.Blaydon is an accomplished writer ..stream of consciousness ..flashbacks done with aplomb. And you're treated to this writer/artist's paintings throughout...An amazing treasure ..surely a great gift for family and friends. Bravo!
