    Loved it!!

    I love her Prime stories and her companion stories but this one really sticks out for me. It replaces Dark Stranger and Laurent and Eden' stories as my favorite.

    Alternate Historical Romance

    This story is like a Historical Regency Romance - it is not based in England, but has a similar feel. There is the family expectations for marriage and position, a struggle for a career as a surgeon, and political intrigue. It has everything needed to keep you hooked.

    Adventure, romance, and intrigue in sea-faring empire

    Memory of Morning is a wonderfully entertaining story about Dr. Megere Cliff, a young woman finishing a two-year tour of duty in the Imperial Navy, eager to begin her civilian career as a fully accredited surgeon. The novel is also an exciting adventure set in the heart of the Ang Empire, where the society is reminiscent of Regency England.with several significant differences. Megere lives in a world without large land masses, only islands, so that both trade and warfare require mastery of the sea. War is waged from the decks of wooden sailing ships, and metals are a scarce resource. During the past few generations, a deadly plague has swept through the population, contributing to a growing restlessness at all levels of society. Some believe that all people should be encouraged to achieve all they can based on their abilities, without regard for their station in life. Others are determined to preserve the status quo, with the noble families on top and members the working class kept strictly in their place. Megere's life is complicated when her ambitious family decides that she and her eligible cousins and siblings should all participate in the coming Season, in the hopes of finding suitable marriage partners. Megere has no objections to getting married, some day - and she has strong feelings for several potential suitors. But she is also determined to pursue her calling as a healer. if only circumstances would stop conspiring to entangle her in dangerous Imperial politics! Memory of Morning is full of vivid, believable characters. You'll identify and sympathize with some, admire others, and be furious with the villains! The plot takes several interesting twists and turns and provides a very satisfying sense of completion at the end. It's a marvelous tale in every way, and I highly recommend it.
