I really liked the memory exercies in the book, and the list of resources and tools. There was a lot of really great information in here. I only hesitate to recommend it to others because for the non-scholarly, the information could have been better digested if it were presented in more reader-friendly, bite-size, accessible chunks. I would love to see the publisher take this information and make an app for memory tips and tricks!

I have always credited myself for I thought that I had a good memory.  However after reading this book, I
realized how much my memory has faltered.  There are always times that I walk into a room with a purpose
and instantly forget what I went in the room for.  I know that health wise diet, exercise, and sleep play a big
role in the functioning of the brain and any excessive amount of those conditions is always bad. The book
was a lot of fun to read and I learned quite a lot, the quizzes gave me and idea of where my brain function is
at. I also really enjoyed learning how far back in history that memory was discovered and explored.  I know
I will be sharing this information with others and refer back to the book often.

First part of this book proved a bit of a challenge for me to understand. Move to the next chapters and I was glad I picked up this book. It is easy to apply the exercises to help you get through long grocery lists or to-do lists for an event. It might feel a bit weird to put in the extra effort to make a rhyme or acronym out of a list or something you want to remember, but once you do it a couple of times it even comes naturally

This book was very thought provoking and informational about the memory function of our brain.   I really enjoyed reading about the
theories and research that has been done.  The book promotes that exercising our memory can increase it's capacity as well as possible
to help as we age.    The exercises were reasonable and can be done by everyone.  The need to ensure our brains/memory doesn't
atrophy is so very important.  Everyone is always worried about the muscle and their body shape,  but memory is actually as important
if not more so than our bodies.  Read the book, do the exercises and see what you think!

I feel like this book was written for me. I am always searching for my keys, forgetting why I walked into a room, or hardly ever remembering small things that other people have no problem remembering. It was interesting to read that diet and lack of exercise have an impact on memory function, along with multitasking and lack of attention. I was happy to see this book includes tests too, along with a lot of useful tips to help improve memory. For anybody like me who is forgetful, no matter what your age is, I definitely recommend this book to you.

I have trouble remembering things—especially names. I read this book looking for some help to remember things better. I was curious to see what I would find out by reading this book because I would like to solve this problem. I didn’t know until reading this book that experts began studying memory in the late 1800’s, joining the even early memory work of Aristotle. I thought this was only a modern problem. The book includes a wide variety of methods for helping to improve your memory and carefully explains the science behind each method. Some of the information is very complex. It is clear that it does require dedicated work to improve your memory but it could really pay off for you at work and in your personal life. By Karen Gilbert

Comprehensive and vivid.  Chocked full of details.  Useful discussion of differences between long term and short term memory, chaining and chunking techniques.  Enjoyable.  Great on the history of the brain, including Greeks, Canadians, doctors, inventors.  Very helpful on thinking about how to keep aging or forgetful brains active.
