As you get older, you have to find a way to keep your mind sharp.  That’s all you got! Everything else is gonna go, but if you work at it, keep the brain active, you can stay mental there for a lot longer.  For me, names have also been a real toughie, especially when a bunch of people are introduced to me at once.  But the book goes through the methods of the experts, and gosh if they don’t work!  Practice is key, but I’m seeing improvements!

Decent book about standard memory tricks. There is nothing new or shocking here but it could be helpful for people struggling to find ways to remember the names of their co-workers. The little memory tests are fun and the book is well organized and easy to read. You can jump right to the technique that you are interested in.

Awesome book!!! I struggled for quite some time with my memory. It was never bad but as I moved into the professional world and began to study for my Real Estate Exam I realized I was just not retaining everything I read. I found myself selecting what I felt was the most important the exercises in this book is definitely helping me with that bad habit I ‘ve developed.

I like that this book explains memory from practical and scientific standpoints. The tricks and exercises are extensive and very helpful,
but I think the most helpful part is the section early on that tells you about lifestyle changes you can make to improve your overall memory
    and brainpower.
I will probably be combining some of these techniques with mindfulness and meditation in order to create a more peaceful atmosphere
and a promising new year. I received this book complimentary of third voice marketing for review on the amazon kindle.

My son had been having trouble lately in school remembering stuff. Especially lists, tables etc. I was looking for something to help with this problem when I came across this book. After reading through it, and taking the tests in there, turns out I'm not that good myself. I explained many of the tips and tricks to him and many of them are actually working. The scaffolding technique explained in vivid detail is really useful in academic learning as there is a lot to remember, especially during exams. I read through the book completely and came to know of so many scientific facts and research information which has increased my overall understanding of the subject as well. I would say that this is a great book if you have trouble remembering things or even if you think you are absent-minded. Just try it! I'm sure it will help in some way or the other!

This is a very good intro, must-have quick reference guide for people wishing to become, and practice, the most widely-applied memory recall techniques. The information per chapter was chunked nicely, making quick reference at any point or sub-topic of the book easy. I felt this book was easy to digest, though I skimmed over most of the last chapter; the last chapter felt like a summary of the book, but was too repetitious of the previous material for me to stand re-reading it all. Recommended purchase!

This book has fascinating facts about the early scientists and philosophers who theorized on memory. It cites medical/psychological perspectives that give it some legitimacy. But this legitimacy comes to a screeching halt in the second chapter. I cannot fully believe in anything that doesn’t give solid references throughout. These claims of technology and diet and inadequate social activity drastically affecting the memory seem quite far-fetched. That is what lost me.

I thought this was a pretty good book, and interesting to read. I enjoyed the quick tests for short term memory, it was like a little game. I use many of these tips already, such as acronyms, rhyming, and visualization, but there were some new ones I didn't know. I'm hoping this helps my husband improve his memory as well!

This book discussed both short and long term memory and the things that get in the way of remembering, one being having such busy lives. The author has an interesting short term test for
memory function and shows other ways to help to improve our memory. The author also mentions by reviewing things periodically this will increase your long term retention. I enjoyed reading about associating things that have meaning as a way to keep things in your memory. There is no better time to start working on our memory than now and this book is a great help.

This book was a pretty easy read, though some of the sentences were a little long considering the subject matter so it's not something you can gloss over and expect to recall anything. Some of the examples that the author uses were very confusing, but just remember that not every method of increasing memory will work for everyone. I enjoyed the memory tests especially.

This is great source of tips and methods memory improvement. When I was younger and had fewer things going on in my life, retaining new information pretty effortless. Multiple kids, many years, and a million little responsibilities I perform daily later…not so much. Some of the methods in the book I already knew and used daily (like chunking and association) but not very deliberately. Others, such as method of loci and rhyming I had actually never used. Armed with multiple methods I can use deliberately to assist my memory, I know I will be able to keep track of life and learn new info so much better. If you aren’t interested in reading about different theories and research done on memory, I would suggest skipping to part two. If you’re a bit of a science geek like me, you will likely find it fascinating.

If you've ever found yourself forgetting something that ought to be obvious to you--"why did I walk into this room again?"--then this book is absolutely necessary. Having not used the methods here for too long, I can't vouch for how it will overall improve your brain's capacity for memorization, but the tricks and methods you'll learn here will help you remember specific tasks, messages, numbers and more as you use them. It's well-known the nmemonic devices are a great way to remember something, and this book is chock-full of similar strategies for retaining information. If you find yourself unable to remember things easily, you'll love this book. It's perfect for students or those whom need to remember information often for their jobs--but I think anyone could use a good boost or toolkit for memorization!

I enjoyed reading this book because it covered many tips and tricks for improving memory that may have been lost due to lifestyle factors or habits.
