A baseball book from the fan's perspective

Most baseball books are by players some by umpires but I am a fan. I am also not interested in Mickey got drunk and hit a home run. I really enjoyed Will's view (a fan's view) of baseball. The strategy, the look inside the meaning of what the untrained eye thinks is a meaningless move. What is the best count to seal on? How many ways can a runner get home from third with less than two outs. I got a real feel for why teh players do what they do. I liked baseball before but now, with this new understanding I love it!!

good book for the avid baseball fan

Will covers the game of baseball through the eyes of four of the best, but gets off track at times. I was expecting to be led through the minds of these great baseball players/managers, but only received this part of the time. Nonetheless, many good points and critical thoughts about the game are expressed. Keith Hernandez still holds my vote for the most in depth baseball writer around, but Will arguably places second. Worth reading for the serious fan.
