Despite bearing a title that sounds like a Jerry Springer episode, Modessit's (Confessions of a Knitting Heretic) excellent book is full of knitwear designs for garments men might actually want to wear. As a bonus, it also features items for dogs that won't embarrass men when they're taking their animals on walks. It is targeted to an audience of intermediate and advanced knitters and includes step-by-step patterns for a wide range of sizes, plus interesting sidebars about men who knit. Among the designs for men are a diagonal colorblock pullover, a classic cabled vest, and a comfortable plaid zip-front jacket. Dogs, meanwhile, get not only sweaters to protect them from the cold but also blankets and "mutt-luks" socks for taking walks in snowy weather. A good selection for large public libraries where demand warrants.
