Editorial Reviews

Democrat and Chronicle.com - Anna Reguero
Three of today’s most widely known and celebrated classical musicians on one disc is almost too good to be true. The recording lives up to the hype. These trios are impeccably performed and full of zest.
ConcertoNet.com - Marcus Karl Maroney
The expected technical finesse and purity of tone that each of these musicians brings to their solo repertoire are on fine display in this group effort, and the players have a delicious panache that makes the recording a delight from first note to last.... This recording stands high among a small but rich discography of these works.

Listening to these three musical giants collaborate on these pieces was pure unadulterated pleasure. Bought one for myself and one for a gift, and received great thanks for the gift.

This trio pulls out all the stops! How can you beat Pearlman, Yo-Yo Ma and Ax? A beautiful combination, wondeful listening music. Would Mendelssohn have approved.....absolutely! Mendelssohn inspired deeply touching music in his work, which reflects what he must have been as a man. These three, have shown their passion for Mendelssohn's passion, and have incorporated their talents in the showcasing of this CD. I give it very high marks in creativity and performance, and how it touches your senses. Listen to it in your relaxing moments, the sound quality is impecable.

The flawless performances of Mendelssohn's music demonstrated the mastery these three gentleman have of their talented gifts as musicians. Mendelssohn's compositions are somewhat difficult but that was not an issue for these Icons of music. I had to go look up Mendelssohn in my Encyclopedia after reading the short essay that came with the CD. What a truly intriguing story. It is plain to see that Mr. Mendelssohn's music came from his heart.

Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman collaborate to make heavenly sounds in their performance of the Mendelssohn Piano Trios. You can hear the joy and excitement as they bring these piano trios to life. I felt like I was there in the studio with them. I could feel them playing off each other. Each of them shines and this results in a breathtakingly beautiful experience. The performance was that personal, nuanced, and sparkling. I was not acquainted with this music before buying this CD, but I grew to love it very quickly. Every time I hear it, and I listen to it nearly every day, I hear more depth, more emotion that makes this music and this performance so special. When I saw this CD with these three artists, I had to have it. If you love classical music, you won't be disappointed by adding this to your collection.
