Overview

Chemistry is the science which treats of the intra-atomic or the intra-molecular changes which material things undergo under various influences. Mental is defined as "of or appertaining to the mind, including intellect, feeling, and will, or the entire rational nature." Science is knowledge gained and verified by exact observation and correct thinking. Mental chemistry is, therefore, the science which treats of the changes which material conditions undergo through the operations of the mind, verified by exact observation and correct thinking. - From "Mental Chemistry"

THERE is, and always has been, a widespread belief in Fate, or Destiny, that is, in an eternal and inscrutable Power which apportions definite ends to both individuals and nations. This belief has arisen from long observation of the facts of life. Men are conscious that there are certain occurrences which they cannot control, and are powerless to avert. Birth and death, for instance, are inevitable, and many of the incidents of life appear equally inevitable. - From "The Mastery of Destiny"

Meet the Author

Charles F. Haanel (1866 – 1949) was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was the fourth of six children. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri when Charles was a child. His first job was for the National Enameling & Stamping Company where he worked in different positions for fifteen years before striking out on his own as a writer and businessman. His most famous work, The Master Key System, was published in 1912. It was written in the form of a course in New Thought, mental development, financial success, and personal health. The book was heavily promoted in the pages of Elizabeth Towne's New Thought magazine The Nautilus. By 1933 it had sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Haanel practiced the financial principles he preached and was a self made man who owned several major companies.

James Allen (1864-1912) was a British philosophical writer, known for his inspirational books and poetry. Allen's books illustrate the use of the power of thought to increase personal capabilities. Although he never achieved great fame or wealth, his works continue to influence people around the world. Allen's most famous book, As a Man Thinketh, was published in 1902. It is now considered a classic self-help book. Its underlying premise is that noble thoughts make a noble person, while lowly thoughts make a miserable person.
