Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal

Management consultant and former monk Sarma aims to help readers reduce stress, gain focus, and maintain clarity. Calling his approach to meditation "mental resilience training," he discusses everything related to its theory, practice, and application as well as provides step-by-step instructions for correctly executing postures, attaining deep calm, and acquiring insight. Sarma's presentation of meditation will appeal both to businesspeople (to whom he's been teaching these techniques for ten-odd years) as well as to those who would like to engage in the practice without the mysticism component. Recommended for all libraries.

    It's Not About Religion

Sarma writes this book so that anyone, regardless of religious beliefs, can take part in meditation. It is written in easy to read language. Its references to other experts and educational/professional articles is a great touch for those of us needing more support.

    I Also Recommend:

    The Best on Meditation!

This is the best book on meditation that I¿ve read and I endorse it enthusiastically! I teach meditation and relaxation in business settings and have placed this item as my number one recommended resource. It explains the value and purpose of strengthening the mind in a clear, practical and easy to understand way. It¿s common to focus on keeping the physical body healthy and yet the mind, which has an uncanny ability to go its own way and get caught up in life¿s dramas, is often ignored.

The book reinforces the view that we each have tremendous personal power to strengthen the mind muscle, see with greater clarity and as a result make wiser choices and decisions in our lives. In today¿s world especially it¿s important to learn ways to reduce stress and anxiety and stay present to counteract and balance the negativity about us.

The step by step approach the author uses is simple, factual and devoid of religious or mystical connotations. The CD with guided exercises accompanying the book is a helpful way to get started on your own. Be aware though that there are long periods of silence on the CD that require a lot of self discipline to avoid going to sleep! The book provides a major contribution to the field of personal development particularly in the area of stress management!
