This is one of two books that is on the bookshelf of every working Chemist. The other is the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics. This Index is put out every year by Merck Co. for the use of working chemists. The format is a series of monographs on specific chemicals. The information is well researched, up to date, and extensively cross referenced. This index is also nearly impossible to understand before finishing undergraduate Organic Chemistry. The CRC is more accessible for someone with a High School level of science education.
