Does this dictionary come with pronunciation? Word of origin? Any synonyms? Thanks.

I've had the M-W Collegiate since 1972, and it is by far the best affordable dictionary I've ever used, a true gem. An electronic version is loaded on my Nook, and I thought it would be very helpful to have the full, searchable edition on my PC. This product purportedly included that. I asked a B&N employee if the electronic was a duplicate of the hard copy and was so assured. As it turns out, this version is limited: it contains only ~180,000 words (the complete electronic boasts 225,000), and worse, the audio pronunciations don't work. In short, it's abridged crippleware. Amusingly, it is published by a company called Fogware. So my ratings are really: M-W hard copy = 5 stars; Fogware electronic = 3 stars; Deceptive marketing = 1 star If you want the electronic solely, B&N apparently doesn't carry it, so you might look at Amazon, where it is sold for $12 or so.

After having just purchased this dictionary can't believe that we got along without it as long as we did. A definite must for every household.

I was very surprised that there was no alphabet indexing. In the past every dictionary I've owned was indexed.
