Messianic Jewish Congregations examines the present state of Jewish believers in Jesus in Israel and North America. A bulk of the information has been gained with the use of surveys, personal interviews, and visits to congregations.

Dr. Wasserman begins by tracing the history of Jewish leadership in the church. He then analyzes in detail the worship style of Messianic congregations. Two chapters are given to the substance of the surveys, concentrating on fellowship, discipleship, and evangelism. Finally, the book examines indigenous cultural expression and the factors that contribute to congregational success. The book will interest Christians who want to understand the presence of Jews in the church, and students of religion.

About the Author

Jeffrey S. Wasserman has a Ph.D. in World Religions and teaches philosophy courses at Harper College in the Palatine suburb of Chicago. He has devoted the last three decades to understanding how people of various traditions "live-out" their faith. This quest for understanding of the practical out working of faith commitments took him to southern Africa from 1978-85 and Singapore from 1997-1999,

For the last 13 years, he has been teaching in the greater Chicago area where he lives with his wife, Pegi. He has one daughter and grandson.
