All Music Guide - Johnny Loftus
For its third Maverick release, Chicago's Mest has jettisoned the sugary pop experimentation of Destination Unknown, dulled the ska influences of its early career, and fully embraced tarted-up tweener punk. Produced, mixed, and engineered by Goldfinger frontman and Mest mentor John Feldmann, the eponymous effort packs every possible punk-pop cliché into its 13 tracks, and often sounds like a facsimile of Feldmann's own band during its heyday.
Like its compatriots in Good Charlotte whose Benji Madden guests here, Mest blends energetic Green Day-style power chording with the processed vocals, synth programming, and overwrought string sections that typify corporatized pop in 2003 and that's pop in any radio-friendly format. While "Until I Met You," "Night Alone," and "2000 Miles" are, for the most part, pogo-friendly trad punk updates, they're about as believable as a mohawk in a boy band. The squiggling electronics and swelling violins of "Jaded These Years" and "Chance of a Lifetime"'s acoustic melodrama suggest Mest might now be using punk rock only as artifice. Because when each chord, every word, and all the micro-managed, glossy dynamics of an album reek of artful commercialization, it's hard to find what's real about the band behind the music. Mest might offer a few stage-diving moments for the kids, but it will only keep until the next big thing hits.

    Their best album ever

I believe that Mest did a great job with their new record. It's so different from all their other records, which I think, is great. The songs are genuine and true and can speak to almost anyone. I love this record, and everyone should buy it!

    Mest

This album is awesome. It kicks off with ‘Until I met you’, which is a great track to start with. Followed closely by ‘Jaded (these years), featuring Benji Madden, which really shows off Tonys vocal’s. The album then moves into deeper tracks like ‘Night alone’ and ‘2000 miles’. Jeremiah sings on a few tracks, like ‘Your promise’, which is also a great song. Towards the end of the album it is finished with meaningful songs like ‘Chance of a lifetime’ and ‘Paradise (122nd and highland). This album is f***ing great and a must have!

    MEST

The new album is phenomanal! Tony and Jere's song writing has really stepped up. With the help of friends such as John Feldman from Goldfinger and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte the music on this new self titled album has to be the best they have produced since the start of their career, I would highly recomended it to anyone new to the band and old school hardcore fans too.

    New Mest Album Kicks Ass

The new album from the punk quartet Mest is by far one of the best punk rock albums I've ever heard. It even includes a collaberation with the guitar player/vocalist Benji Madden from Good Charlotte. I would reccommend picking up a copy as soon as you can.

    Well....

It's not the best Mest cd to date because of it's more mature sound. Well it's still worth the money. I mean it has a few good songs, but i wish they would have stuck with the old sound.

    New Mest CD rocks!

Whether you get the parentdal advisory or edited version of the new self-titled Mest CD, you'll be happy with the outcome. With acoustic tracks, and an appearance from Good Charlotte's Benji Madden, how couldn't you like it?

This is by far Mest's best cd. This album is way more mature then any of their other ones. They dont really have any funny songs on it..Like on their other cds.
