Criticas
PreS-K-More than a see-and-say book, this title offers attractive pictures of colorful objects labeled by a single word. From household items to outdoor objects, the text builds vocabulary and comprehension. Many concepts, including shapes, color, opposites, and seasons are presented and grouped by theme. The minimal text allows for easy comprehension among diverse Spanish speakers; for example, the book uses words like popote rather than pajilla for straw, and cometa rather than papilote for kite. The author places each vocabulary word twice on a page, once as a label for an object or concept and again around the border; this, ideally, provides additional word recognition activities.

Children's Literature
Dr. Riley has given a bright, colorful wordbook to children and parents in their search for enjoyable learning of Spanish vocabulary. The book is geared toward introducing new words in Spanish that describe words and daily events necessary in order to learn to read. Even younger children will be enticed to look at the book and find familiar objects. They can then tell what they know about the object and begin to understand how words relate to the objects. Dr. Riley gives parents directions on how to use the book to provide the best possible learning experience for the children at whatever age. The book starts with objects familiar to the child that can be found in his home and follows with objects that can be found around him. It continues with information about events, places, climate, opposites and more. Each page has a vocabulary list at the bottom of the page and there is a list of all the words at the end of the book. This book is easy to pick up because of all the colorful pictures. Perhaps it will help teach as well. 2002, Kingfisher Publications,
