Children's LiteratureExcellent for the young toddler and early reader, this book clearly and thoroughly shows all parts of the body, activities, types of clothing and numbers in both Spanish and English. Beginning with the body, it moves on to the face and all of its parts. Then it focuses on different colors of eyes and hair, then hands and feet. The book moves along to the different expressions we can make with our faces and activities that we can do—such as dance, draw and play. The five senses are covered as are different sounds. Winter clothing, summer clothing, times of day and activities that coincide with these times are covered. Finally, counting from one to ten ends the book. This well-constructed board book shows the Spanish words in larger, bold text with the English equivalent below the Spanish in smaller, lighter type, making it ideal for both English- and Spanish-speaking parents to use with their children. One thing missing from this book is pronunciations for those parents who only speak one language and are trying to use the book as a tool to teach their children a different language. Otherwise, this book has wonderful, expressive and colorful photographs to capture children's attention as well as accurate and thorough translation of English and Spanish words. 2005 (orig. 2000), DK Publishing, Ages 1 to 5.
