Tomas Fundora was a Renaissance man of the 90's: Poet, Composer and song's Lyricist. Artist Extraordinaire -Born in Havana, Cuba-, Fundora studied art in Europe and his unique style reflects international culture and elegance. A graduate of TUR and Candler College with a major in Art and Literature, Fundora studied Modern Art at San Alejandro in Cuba and attended special courses in Art Restoration at the School of Art in Bologna, Italy, with additional courses at Washington School of Art, Art Students League in New York and also with Maestro José Asbez Cruz.

As President of the Association of Latin American Painters of New York, conducted courses in painting and sculpture and became the curator and chief restorer of all the art works of Mama Leone's Restaurant in New York. In the winter of '54 at "Mama Leone's Art Show" he offered his art in conjunction with the "Carnavale Italiano." Fundora's painting, Gruta Azul, was awarded the winning prize of the important art exhibit. He painted Gruta Azul, while improving his knowledge of art restoration in Italy, and received several awards. It became very popular among art lovers during this period. He is also known as the "painter of caves."
Fundora had amassed a prestigious clientele, with his works hanging in the homes of artists, dignitaries, politicians and business personalities. His masterpiece The Back of Christ hangs in churches throughout the world, including his native Cuba.

Thomas Fundora fue un artista extraordinario inspirado en el Renacentismo, que triunfa en pleno Siglo XXI. Pintor, poeta, compositor y autor de canciones de fama internacional, Fundora estudió arte en Europa y su estilo único refleja la cultura mundial a través de su elegancia pictórica. Nacido en La Habana Cuba, fue graduado de las Escuelas TUR y del Candler College con especialidades en Arte y Literatura, también estudió Arte Moderno en la Escuela San Alejandro en Cuba y asistió a cursos especiales en Restauración del Arte en Boloña, Italia; con estudios adicionales en la Escuela de Arte en Washington, la Escuela de Arte en Nueva York y de manera personal con el Maestro José Asbez Cruz.
Siendo Presidente de la Asociación de Pintores de Latino America de New York, dió cursos en pintura y escultura, además de ser curador y jefe restaurador de las obras de arte del Restaurant Mama Leone's en New York.

En invierno del '54 exhibe su obra en la Muestra de Arte Mama Leone en el "Carnaval Italiano", siendo premiado con "el galardón a la obra mas importante" de la exposición con su pintura Gruta Azul, la cual fué creada mientras estudiaba en Italia. Desde entonces se le ha homenajeado con numerosos premios, lo cual lo convierte en un pintor muy popular de los amantes del arte. Durante éste período, Fundora es conocido como "el pintor de las cavernas". Su prestigiada clientela creció rápidamente y a la fecha sus obras se exhiben de manera particular en las mansiones de artistas, politicos, dignatarios, embajadores e importantes personalidades de negocios.

Su magistral obra Cristo de espaldas se encuentra en cientos de iglesias a través de todo el mundo, incluyendo en las de Cuba, el país que le vió nacer.
