Meet the Author

Born in Toronto, Douglas Kirkland worked as an apprentice to Irving Penn and began his independent career shooting for Look and Life magazines. Kirkland has received numerous awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American S.O.C, a Lucie for Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment Photography, The Golden Eye of Russia and a Life Time Achievement Award from CAPIC in his native Canada. When not traveling the globe on assignment, he lives in the Hollywood Hills with his wife and business partner, Fran├žoise.

Journalist Nancy Griffin has written extensively about the entertainment industry in publications including The New Yorker, The New York Times, Esquire, GQ, Newsweek, Time and Vanity Fair. She lives in Venice, California, with her husband, architect Steven Ehrlich.
