COOL BOOK...I WANT THIS FOR CHRISTMAS!

Just got back from Barnes and Noble and I was excited when I saw this book. I sat for two hours reading and sifting through the treasures included within. You might gather from this that I am a pretty hardcore MJ fan since I attended MJ's memorial service at the Staples Center and once I got home from Barnes and Noble I did research on 'Treasures' and was pretty impressed. The appropriately 'anonymous' person who gave the book a bad review said "The author's text contains numerous factual errors and consists primarily of a rehashing of tabloid stories about Mr. Jackson infused with the author's own insipid ramblings." Clearly 'anonymous' didn't spend much time reading this book. Nor did 'anonymous' reference a single 'factual error,' so I would suggest checking this impressive and insightful book for yourself rather than giving too much credence to any review. I'm certain you will be impressed. When I researched the author Jason King, I learned that he is clearly above 'anonymous'' pay grade. Dr. Jason King is a Professor at NYU and is the architect who created the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at the Tisch School of the Arts. He writes from the pov of an MJ admirer who doesn't just pour accolades but acknowledges the problems of MJ's personal life especially as it affected his creative life. I hate to state the obvious but an artist's personal life generally heavily impacts their creativity and the author certainly highlights this fact. This is a less varnished assessment of the artist and man in a highly decorative and treasure-laden book. Check it for yourself, you'll want one too...just leave one for me.

    Great Treasure To Own

I just bought this book and while for a quick minute I felt like I was envading MJ's privacy, I quickly realized, this is a tressure for any MJ fan to own. I love how it gives you copies of pices of MJ's life, such as reading the Patent he had on the shoes from Smooth Criminal, his marriage licence to Lisa Marie, concert tickets, and finally his Will. This book is very special and very Pro Michael Jackson. With all the books out there that are unkind, this book is truly a Treasure!

It belongs in the Bargain Bin...

or maybe the rubbish bin. I brought this book based on the glowing reviews published here. That was a mistake. This book offers nothing new or informative. The author simply provides information and excerpts from other books (and possibly tabloid newspapers and cable newscasts following Michael Jackson's death) and reveals his own morbid fascination with Michael Jackson.

The best line in this book is the author's allegation that Michael Jackson was surrounded by "a motley crew of sycophants". I bet he waited years to publish such a tidbit. This book is simply more of the same from wanna-be Michael Jackson experts. Even the trinkets don't save it in my opinion.

I TREASURE THIS BOOK! ANY MICHAEL JACKSON FAN WOULD. GREAT GIFT IDEA!

I should first mention that I left the same review at Amazon but what's interesting is that you can only buy used copies there AT TWICE THE PRICE of a new book on Barnes & Noble. WTH?! Looks like a proprietary move by B & N. Cest la vie. I should also add that the writing in "TREASURES" farrrrrrrr outstrips that in the "Michael Jackson Platinum Edition Collector's Vault" which is well-done but is a fan book with nothing near the cultural analysis which exists in "Michael Jackson Treasures." Anywho, here's how I feel about "Michael Jackson Treasures:"

For those who are truly interested in an in-depth analysis of the cultural impact of Michael Jackson, this book should not be missed. I loved it because unlike a normal fan tome, Michael Jackson Treasures delves into the effect of an accomplished and singularly creative artist upon world culture. While one other reviewer had trouble with the author, Jason King, suggesting Jackson's guilt without taking a stand or supporting such a stand either way, it should be noted that this is exactly what I wanted to hear; a realistic and unsentimental view of a brilliant, yet troubled artist. If Jackson was a God his accomplishments would be less impressive, but this is a perspective on a man of great contradictions; steely yet fragile and ultimately resilient yet tragic. The memorabilia is a nice touch to enable true fans a closer perspective into the understandably secretive world of Michael Jackson. At first I thought this merely an attempt to capitalize upon the untimely passing of MJ, but I have to realize that if you're going to buy any book or memorabilia at any time, someone will profit, so at least this book offers bang for the buck and, at most, a momentary transport to a time not long gone by when Michael Jackson ruled as the King of Pop at the top of his game and later in exile. If you're a fan or know one, this book is a must have to add to any Michael Jackson collection. Sure to go up in value as time goes by and this book goes out of print, I went back and bought two so I can keep one pristine.

    A Michael Jackson Treasure Trove

I received this book as a gift from a special friend who knows what it means to love Michael Jackson. When I opened the book it was as if someone delivered a Michael treasure chest to me. This is amazing and I adore every page. The items are stunning, just like Michael. This is the best collection of Michael memorabilia that I have ever seen. You'll love it too. This is a must have. Don't miss this opportunity. Several sources have said "The Dangerous Tour never made it to the US. and "The HIStory Tour never made it to the US. I believe Michael held HIStory concerts in Hawaii and that's all. I will always be angry about the US press black-outs that deprived us of Michael. So, for people who were too young to attend concerts before the 1990's this book is the only chance to have any concert memorabilia. I am always saddened by the fact that no matter how good a book is, we always have to scrutinize every word and make sure there is no slander what so ever. Often times I think I am safe purchasing something, and then at some point when I am reading through it I find something mean or untrue. I haven't read every word in this book and I do have other really good books about Michael for the truth. I think this book is best for the memorabilia aspect.

Only worth the memoribilia, the personal judgements and opinion

Only worth the memoribilia, the personal judgements and opinion I could do without. It is not for him or anyone else to judge whether or not Michael Jackson's children are his biologically nor does it matter. As far as what his addictions were or were not, again this author was not in a position to state anything on the matter as no one knew at time of publishing...as it turns out he was wrong on that as well as other points.

Only good because of the pictures and artifacts

I finished this whole book the afternoon I bought it, and I'm surprised to read the reviews on this book, only because most of them are positive. The only thing I liked about this book are the wonderful pictures and really cool pull out memorabilia. Most of the information in this book, I didn't care for. In the beginning, the author gives you the impression he is a fan of Michael's, but then I feel throughout the book he makes Michael out to be a crazy, self indulged, deluded pop star. The "facts" presented are mostly tabloid junk or taken from unauthorized autobiographies. Luckily, I bought this book in the store at half brice and didn't waste the whole $25 on it. I just feel there are much better books you could get to truly understand Michael's life and legacy. I'll keep it for the pictures and memorabilia, but I don't think I'll read it again, as some parts made me sick to my stomach.

    Great for the Avid Collector

I have always loved the Jackson 5 and of course, Michael. This book is just what every fan should have, it has it all, the stories, the memorbilia and a great synopsis of his history. I've always collected anything and everything I could get my hands on and when I saw this book, I just had to have it! Somehow, as I was growing up and through no fault of my own, I missed some of his concerts so the memorabilia tickets were a real treat to add to my collection. This book will be my "coffee table" center piece. I will definitely tell my friends about this book. This is a great book for my collection and I plan to pass it down to my two sons, also MJ fans.

Michael Jackson's Treasures is just that, A TREASURE.

I love this book. It has fantastic photos of Michael. And each section has some kind of memorabilia. There are tickets, his marriage license, etc. It is fun to look in each pocket and pull out the items. I loved this book so much that I bought several of them. I have already used one for a prize at the school I work at for the library. The girl who received it also loves it. I would highly recommend this book to any MJ fan. I even bought an extra book just for the memorabilia items. So far this is my favorite tribute book to the King of Pop. The only MJ book I like better is his autobiography Moonwalk.

    Great Gift

I gave this book to my husband who finds it necessary to have Michael Jackson memorabilia now that he is gone. My husband loved the gift and the idea of the book which looks just like a scrapbook. I bought him this gift because it looked like something a fan would love to show off to family and friends or just look at from time to time. The whole book is a story with actual items you can touch to put yourself in the moment. I highly recommend this book and felt it was worth the $25.00 I spent on it. A great library or coffee table book.

This book gave me a lot of information on my Idol

I really injoyed going thru this book. Talking and showing this book to my family and friends even though. The items are hard to keep up with because friends want the items but do not want to pay for the book like I did. I wish that the items were placed in tamper proof packaging so that after looking at them yourself. You have the ability to close the packaging the item is in. So that no one can get in there with out you knowing. But, it just who you call friend or family. Because some people won't take your items. They will just enjoy them and talking about MJ.
Well back to the book. I always love reading about MJ.. I always have even when he was here with us.
I believe that anyone who buys this book will enjoy it and the different treasures that it gives. Treasures of a king..............

    MJ Treasures

The book was good except for 2 things. Jason insinuated that Michael's kids are not biologically his. There is no proof and no reason to even suggest that. And, aside from the reports that MJ had severe lung damage there is also no basis for the comments that he had no business even thinkning about a concert series let alone embarking on one. I saw This Is It--did Jason? I'm not sure how the coronor can say MJ had severe lung damage and yet he was performing like someone half his age in perfect health.

    Michael Jackson Treasures

I purhased this book for my granddaughter Tifany who recently moved to Florida, the book was shipped to her for a Christmas present/ She was so thrilled, and told me that she never saw this book before and it was the best gift she ever received. I was so happy that the East Brunswick New Store was able to ship this book to her. I even got to write in it before they shipped it out. Once again, thank you for making my Granddaughters Christmas a very special one.

    Tabloid View of Michael Jackson

In my opinion, the author is a tabloid junkie. This is not a well researched book. The author's text is pretentious and basically comprised of highly suspect and unproven media stories, information gathered from unauthorized biographies, and other second hand accounts and stories presented as fact. Even some of the dates attributed to photographs are inaccurate. I wasted my money on this book. Unless they are based solely on the photographs and mementos, the positive reviews of this book are perplexing to me. This book contains too little fact, too much tabloid fabrication and outright lies about its subject.

The author claims that Michael Jackson is most likely not the biological father of his children because they don't look like him and because of information in documents filed in a 2004 custody court case. I doubt seriously that such documents would be available to the general public and therefore doubt that the author can provide proof of his statement unless he's willing to provide the tabloid publication he used as the basis for his statement.

The author states that Michael Jackson was in no shape to perform and that he was hooked on demerol and a host of other drugs. Since the author does not state that he lived with Michael Jackson or worked for him or had any personal contact with him whatsoever, how could he possibly state such a thing as fact?

There are much better books about Michael Jackson than this misleading garbage.

More than what I had expected!

Oh my goodness I thought this book was a lot smaller and only had a few items. Boy was I wrong. The book is huge and contains a myriad of memorabilia! From concert tickets to certificates this book is amazing. It contains posters and beautiful pictures of the King. If you are a Michael fan or know a Michael fan this is a perfect gift! Michael is amazing and this book is great for any fan of the greatest entertainer that has and will ever live. Definitely recommend.
