In one concise volume, Wallace (art history, Washington Univ.) presents an accurately rendered life in intelligent, accessible prose. Though not footnoted, it consists of an overview with chronology of Michelangelo's life, followed by three extensive chapters on his major creations--sculpture, painting, and architecture--each illustrated with stunning photographs and post-restoration reproductions. There are several fold-out sections, including a full-color Sistine ceiling and a complete diagram of all its segments. The commentary accompanying each work is engaging, and the layout is thoughtful and well planned, corresponding to the text. While there is a plethora of worthwhile books on Michelangelo, including those that focus in depth on a particular aspect (see Pierluigi De Vecchi and Gianluigi Colalucci's Michelangelo: The Vatican Frescoes; The Complete Works Restored, LJ 3/15/97), these sumptuous reproductions are some of the best on the market.     The second text I have acquired on the gentleman artisan italian master in complete sections of his works. Shows vivid design and exhibits the foundations of todays sciences and arts found everywhere I look about me in architecture, photographies, furnishings and facades, textile designs, etc. there are two more a least texts which contain even more expanded perspectives of his works. thevatican ceiling and redemption where man touched the hand of God is of most importance to me. Man searching for Redemption!! The items Teste Divino! red chalk peice of 26 year old Andrea Quarates of societal perspectives scketched for the concept and example of the perfect model and face over a half a mileniuim olde. That is modeling of quill and vellum. I want to look further of palletes design and minerals class and geographic orogins for reproduction analogs of my own version today of such er each coloure of woman and temperance of solar revelutions through out the world here first. infinitesimal approximae vicinite of polis self portrait. Michel angelo was 47 my age when this item was sketched.

    This book is a definite if you love the works of Michelangelo!

    We just returned from a trip to Italy. We followed the rules and didn't take any pictures of the Sisteen Chapel. I bought this book because of the beautiful photos of the chapel and the individual works in it. But loved the rest of the book as well.
