I am so pleased that Dr. Doyle has created a permanent tribute to the beautiful movie theaters all over the state. So many of these were true palaces that provided memorable experiences for young and old alike. It is clear he went to great lengths to locate information and archival photos that highlight the magnificent architecture of so many of these theaters. This is a book for anyone who believed going to the movies in the 30s, 40s and 50s was a special experience. As a film instructor, I intend to share the history with my students, most of whom have never had the privilege to watch films in these great movie houses.

As a lifelong movie buff, the theatres of the 40's and 50's hold a special place in my heart. This books brings to life in story and picture, all the things I treasure the most about movies and theatres. This is a 'must' for anyone who loves the movies and even those with just a minor curiosity about what it's like to spend a day or a night at the movies!
