Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
If you want to learn Excel quickly and thoroughly, without ever being patronized or bewildered, read Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Step by Step.

We're huge fans of Microsoft's Step-by-Step series. These hands-on software tutorials borrow the best ideas from decades of computer books and add some great innovations of their own. They're a pleasure to use. Even small details are handled well: for example, each task's instructions are formatted and color-coded for easier reading. At a higher level, these books -- and the Excel guide in particular -- are superbly organized and edited. You can learn systematically, end-to-end, or learn just what you need today.

Oh, and if you're worried about the Ribbon, the controversial centerpiece of Excel's new interface, don't. This book will make you right at home. There's even a full-color poster for handy reference. Bill Camarda, from the March 2007 Read Only

    Excel 2007

I do not like this book at all. It is obviously written by someone of a programmer background and not an educator. Sentence structure is difficult at best. Instructions are unclear. It is not written with clear steps and examples. It is a very basic book, but I don't know if beginners can follow it.

    Not very well written

I have purchased other Step by Step books and I found this one to be very poor. After encountering a few minor misprints/mis-information I tried to contact the support for assistance. This information was found on page xix. I e-mailed them three times. That was a month or longer and I still haven't heard from them and I still do not have answers to my questions.

I would not recommend that anyone purchase this book. Maybe try Excel for Idiots...

Great Book, not so great software!

The book has everything I need and then some. The problem lies within the CD's "practice files". They will not download due to a gliche in their script writer. I contacted Microsoft for resolution and was disappointed in the handling of my problem. They knew about this issue but did not have a repair/replacement CD to correct it.
