Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Are you getting everything out of Outlook that Microsoft put into it? If not, check out Microsoft Outlook Version 2002 Plain & Simple. This full-color book covers more than 100 of the most helpful things Outlook 2002 can do. It's friendly, concise, inexpensive, and above all, visual.

If you're like many Outlook users, you've mastered a couple of Outlook's modules -- say, Task List and email -- and haven't spent much time with its other tools, like Calendar. Here's your chance: Jim Boyce makes it easy to get started with all of Outlook's modules -- even buried goodies like Journal, which can help you keep track of the files you've worked on, how long you've worked on them, and when.

If you live in Outlook, Boyce will show you how to spend even more time there -- for example, by using Outlook as your newsreader or using Outlook's Windows Explorer–type capabilities. Of course, there's also coverage of the newest stuff you can do with Outlook 2000 (and Office XP), notably Outlook-integrated instant messaging and handwriting recognition.

There's also step-by-step help with the stuff you ought to be doing but haven't (for example, archiving ancient messages that are slowing Outlook's performance, and backing up your Outlook .PST files, which by now may contain virtually your entire life). (Bill Camarda)

Bill Camarda is a consultant, writer, and web/multimedia content developer with nearly 20 years' experience in helping technology companies deploy and market advanced software, computing, and networking products and services. He served for nearly ten years as vice president of a New Jersey–based marketing company, where he supervised a wide range of graphics and web design projects. His 15 books include Special Edition Using Word 2000 and Upgrading & Fixing Networks For Dummies®, Second Edition.
