Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
If you have Windows XP, you have Windows Movie Maker 2 (or you can download it for free). Don’t know how to use it yet? This book is the easiest way to learn how. Author John Buechler has been online helping folks with Movie Maker practically since it came out. He’s even won Microsoft’s coveted MVP award for his efforts. Now, he’s bundled all that advice into a wonderfully usable beginner’s primer.

Buechler walks you through every step of making your movie: pulling together your sources (and shooting better footage); capturing your sources on your PC; basic editing; adding music and audio clips; using video effects, transitions, titles, credits, and more. There’s a full chapter on sharing your movie -- everything from writing CDs to hosting your movie on the Web. When there’s something Movie Maker won’t do (for example, writing DVDs) Buechler suggests alternatives.

Even if you don’t own a digital camcorder yet, there’s plenty you can do with stills and other video sources (like your old VHS tapes). This book covers all that. It’s also full of tips (how to prep images using Microsoft Paint; how to make the most of limited disk space; what to use if you don’t own a microphone boom). Project ideas, too: from genealogy to karaoke. Bill Camarda

Bill Camarda is a consultant, writer, and web/multimedia content developer. His 15 books include Special Edition Using Word 2000 and Upgrading & Fixing Networks for Dummies, Second Edition.
