Even the most devoted cynics have a soft spot, though most keep it well hidden...even from themselves, as did Midas Crackenberry. But from time to time, something intrudes on that cynicism, slips under its radar, and makes direct contact with the humanity that has been hidden from view so long and so well long. And the miracle that ensues is a wonder to behold.

This was a very cute short story about a grumpy old man finding joy in a cat. It made me laugh because of the man yelling at the cat and left me smiling at the end. Great for cat lovers looking for a short read.

A very good short story that raises the point of never taking people at face value based upon how they act or what they say; that there is always more going on beneath the surface than what first appears, for sure.
