|Slough Creek Introduction - Part 1|

A light gray tabby shecat pads in and announces, "Hello everyone and welcome to the home of the Pact Clans, Slough Creek located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming! This will explain all you need to know about the Pact Clans' home here so please read carefully. Slough Creek Introduction Parts 1, 2, and 3 are all long but important. Yes this place actually exists in real life! All of the Pact Clans are located in the first meadow along Slough Creek. It is a breathtaking place and farther down are instructions so you can see it for yourself! But I will give you a brief introduction to it first. Slough Creek is located in the northeastern section of Yellowstone and is known for its amazing fly fishing and wildlife. It is an immense open landscape with endless meadow surrounded by lush forests and the towering peaks of Sugarloaf and Cutoff mountains. In a bend in the creek is a small, rocky butte which provides amazing views in all directions. From here you can see that:

Below stretches a green plain, which Slough Creek winds through with several sandbars jutting out into the rippling water. Only a lone spruce grows on the banks and marshes and ponds cover the entire area along with some shrubs. (Sandclan)

To the west lies the Old Oxbow, a curved, marshy pond, and beyond it is the Upland Meadows dominated by grasses, sagebrush, and the occasional lodgepole pine. Wildflowers are especially popular here and a gentle breeze blows across the rolling landscape. (Horseclan)

To the north lies Aspen Heights, a hilly area covered in a mixture of trees including aspen, spruce, and lodgepole pines, with the edge of McBride Lake marking the far end. Slough Creek also flows down through these hills, which are dotted with rocky outcrops at the edges. (Ashclan)

To the east are the Douglas Fir Slopes, a heavily forested area of Douglas fir pines that only has access to water from a brief stretch of Slough Creek. A well traveled twoleg path follows the tree line with two campsites located halfway across at the edge of the forest. (Northclan)

And to the south is Canyon Cliffs, mountainous ridges covered in aspen, spruce, and lodgepole pine. A small pond lies between two peaks while Slough Creek exits the meadow past the cliffs and Saddle Meadows farther west provides slight relief from the rough ground. (Rainclan)

The entire area has plenty of wildflowers, predominately arrowleaf balsamroot, and the creek itself is full of trout. Bison, elk, white-tailed deer, and mule deer roam throughout the grassland and forests, with the rare moose or pronghorn grazing on the rich vegetation and big horn sheep scaling the cliffs. Due to the plentiful supply of fish, grizzly bears, otters, bald eagles, and osprey are common visitors and black bears, foxes, badgers, coyotes, and wolves also make this place their home. Some animals such as cougar, lynx, and wolverine are the most elusive. Prey of all kinds is abundant in this fertile land. Twolegs occasionally can be seen during greenleaf walking across the land or using sticks to catch cutthroat trout from the stream, which they strangely throw back. Oddly they cause little harm and never stay long. Flooding of the creek is common in newleaf and deep snow blankets the ground in leafbare. Life seems to slow down in this sheltered area and the skylights that led the Pact Clans to this land so long ago still shine on some nights, a reminder that Starclan destined this place for warriors. If you wish to know more about each individual clan territory, check out the borders located in other books at this result. I hope this helps you get a basic idea of Slough Creek. Be sure to read the other two parts! Thanks for reading!"
