Publishers Weekly
Kennedy’s second Killer Instincts romantic thriller (after Midnight Rescue) balances the gritty side of humanity with sizzling passion. Mercenary Luke Dubois is on a find and rescue mission involving tedious hours of stakeouts—at a strip club, last known location of an undercover DEA agent. Action-oriented Luke is bored until he’s told to focus on gorgeous dancer Livy Lovelace. Dancing allows Livy to pay for school and her mother’s expensive chemotherapy. Unfortunately, her slimy and sadistic boss, Vince Angelo, thinks she should be his mistress, willing or not. Livy knows Vince is willing to kill anyone who stymies him, so she spurs Luke’s offer of help until Vince murders one of her friends. Soon risk-taker Luke and ever-cautious Livy are exploring their fiery passion and wondering whether they can make it permanent. Intriguing good guys and brutal bad guys, gory violence, twisty intertwined plots, and sassy dialogue overcome the clichés to keep readers turning the pages right up to the cliffhanger ending. (Feb.)

Kirkus Reviews
The second installment in Kennedy's romantic suspense Killer Instinct series (Midnight Rescue, 2012, etc.) pairs lots of naughty words with corresponding body parts and a sloppy plot. Ex–Navy SEAL Luke Dubois and his teammates are pretty bored conducting surveillance on a New York mobster's strip club, but when Luke gets up close and personal with the gangster's stripper girlfriend, he perks right up. Olivia Taylor, a beautiful college student, started stripping at the Diamond Mine to help pay her mother's medical bills and their living expenses, but she's now Mafia henchman Vince Angelo's unwilling fiancee. Luke's team, a group of hard-bodied male mercenaries--not to be confused with their curvy female assassin counterparts--is returning a favor for a DEA official and attempting to discover the whereabouts of a DEA undercover agent who's infiltrated Angelo's club. Partnering with a female associate, Isabel, who's masquerading as a stripper, the team solicits Olivia's help; in exchange, Luke promises to help Olivia and her mother escape Angelo's clutches. As the squad unearths leads that might yield the agent's location, the members also learn details about a major drug deal brokered by Angelo, and Luke and Olivia uncover much more than mere information when they share some explicitly erotic moments. For readers who are willing to suspend disbelief and wade through some pretty risqué language, the book may prove gratifying regardless of the careless plot. But the questions the author neglects to answer might leave some feeling unfulfilled: Would the DEA really use private contractors to do its work? If Olivia decides to follow Luke's advice and chuck her plans to attend law school in order to pursue a teaching career, will she pass a background check? What about that man she killed? Why did Luke not recognize Isabel, one of his good friends, when all she did to disguise herself for her stripping gig was lengthen her hair? Would the CIA freely share its satellite and thermal images with mercenaries, and how safe is it to send them via email? It's just too much of a stretch, darlin'.

Intriguing and Engaging: MIDNIGHT ALIAS is the second installmen

Intriguing and Engaging: MIDNIGHT ALIAS is the second installment in Elle Kennedy’s contemporary, adult Killer Instincts romantic, suspense series focusing on an elite group of highly trained men and women who are called into action when no one else can get the job done. This is New Orleans’s native/former Navy SEAL Luke Dubois and Olivia Taylor’s storyline. MIDNIGHT ALIAS can be read as a stand alone; some of the previous storyline information is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person points of view MIDNIGHT ALIAS fast forwards the series six months and follows the search for a missing DEA agent whose last know whereabouts placed him at a strip club fronting for a drug smuggling operation. Luke and his fellow team members have not been able to locate the missing agent but Luke finds himself attracted to a beautiful stripper whose role and character are out of place at the club. What ensues is a building relationship between our leading couple, one Luke hopes to use in ferreting out some information about what goes on behind the scenes at the club.

The relationship between Luke and Olivia is slow to build. Luke’s attraction to Olivia is immediate but Olivia is in no position to fall into Luke’s embrace. Our heroine has found herself in debt to the local mob and her mother’s health is dependent upon Olivia’s continued work. Luke and his team will find themselves pulled deeper into an undercover operation where not only do they discover the whereabouts of the DEA agent but put a plan into motion to take down the local drug cartel. There is some definite sexual tension between Olivia and Luke.

MIDNIGHT ALIAS is a suspense filled storyline with an ensemble cast of characters whose own stories are building throughout the series. Luke’s team of fellow mercenaries, headed by ex Ranger Jim Morgan, have set up shop in Mexico waiting for their next assignment that will place each man and woman on the frontline of potential danger and death. Derek or D as he is called is battling some personal demons and in this his character is about to self destruct or implode. Noelle’s team of female assassins is virtually invisible but Isabel does play a much larger role throughout the story. Unlike the previous storyline MIDNIGHT ALIAS is not as graphically or sexually violent. There are scenes of violence and abuse but the details are limited and mostly in the background; the destructive nature of drugs, drug smuggling and the sex trade does make for some interesting scenarios. Isabel and Trevor’s storyline continues to build and the epilogue points to a dangerous assignment for our female assassin.

MIDNIGHT ALIAS is another well written, intriguing and engaging storyline of suspense and romance. The majority of the action takes place in the final pages of the story as the mercenaries try to uncover the truth about the missing DEA agent. Elle Kennedy has caught my attention with her amazing characters and stories.

Now that I've finished binge-reading Elle's entire Killer Instin

Now that I've finished binge-reading Elle's entire Killer Instincts series, I can finally sit down and write some thoughts about each of them. I was so obsessed with these books that I couldn't even think about taking the time to write a review before jumping right into the next book. Six books, one week. Not too shabby. ;)

I liked the characters in this book a lot. Luke was a southern charmer that I couldn't get enough of. All alpha on the outside, but with quite a heart underneath. Olivia might not have been part of Noelle's crew, but she was still a strong woman. I admired her determination. Together, these two were amazing. They had tons of chemistry and even though there was a lot at stake, I couldn't help but root for them. They were just so right together.

Not only did this book have great romance and some serious heat, but it had all the action and suspense I'd come to expect from this series, even early in. The strip club setup isn't necessarily new to books, but Elle owned it and put her own spin on it. I couldn't help but wonder if Olivia would ever trust Luke, if she would be able to get away from Vince and just how everything would wrap up with this mission. I was on the edge of my seat at times – just like I want to be when reading a book like this!

Midnight Alias was a great follow-up to Midnight Rescue. Several of the underlying storylines continued into this book, which is part of the reason why I found myself bingeing on these hard. I needed to get to Trevor and Isabel's book. I had to know what the real story was between Noelle and Morgan. I wanted all of it and I wasn't going to stop until I got it. And I'm glad I didn't, because what a series!

If you like your romance wrapped up with a whole lot of suspense and action, look no further. Elle Kennedy's Killer Instincts will be your new favorite series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

    Midnight Alias: 4.75:
A thrilling, action-packed, entertaining story with plenty of romance and sensuality.  This book was so enthralling that it was a one-night read.

    Hero: 4.00:
Luke Gustave Dubois: a former Navy SEAL, who was now a member Morgan's Mercenaries.  A hunky, handsome Cajun bad boy who wasn't afraid to express his feelings to the heroine.  A wonderful hero that was not only a skilled member of his team, but his joy of life came across the pages.

    Heroine: 4.00:
Olivia "Liv" Taylor: a wonderful heroine who didn't know the word quit.  She displayed an amazing sense of perseverance against the incredible odds of {1} a mother fighting cancer for the third time and {2} a boss who was obsessed with her.  Her compassionate nature was indomitable.

    Secondary Hero: 4.00:
Trevor "Trev" Callaghan: The current team leader of Morgan's Mercenaries.  Really liked the way that this secondary hero has overcome his death wish and displays his calm leadership skills and is perceptive enough to look under the layers that make up Isabel.

    Secondary Heroine: 5.00:
Isabel "Izzy" Roma: There is just something special about this secondary heroine that grabs your heart.  Not only is her talent at being a chameleon incredibly impressive, but underneath her hard shell, she hides a heart that cries out for love.

    Story Line: 4.50:
Kennedy did a great job of writing an entertaining story about Luke, the adrenaline junkie, who fell for the beautiful, intelligent stripper who was determined to have a normal "nine to five," stable, steady life -- after she figured out how to get herself out of the mess in which she currently found herself enmeshed.

    Action: 4.50:
The book was full of action and adventure scenes, which kept the story moving at a steady, exciting pace.

    Emotion: 4.00:
Kennedy did a great job of connecting the reader to the characters in a manner that made it was easy to share their experiences on an emotional level, feeling their shame, their compassion, their need to do the right thing.

    Romance: 4.50:
The story was full of the awareness that Luke was experiencing for Olivia and vice versa, as well as the relationship that was developing between Trevor and Isabel.  Loved the way that Luke pursued Olivia and after realizing that he was everything she didn't want in a man, continued to impress upon her that he was the man for her.

    Suspense: 3.50:
A strong, tense aura of suspense about {a} how Morgan's Mercenaries were going to complete their assignment, and {b} how Olivia was going to escape the clutches of her boss kept readers on edge as the story progressed.

    Sensuous: 2.50:
Kennedy did a great job of writing spicy, heated, passionate scenes between Luke and Olivia and included several impressive love scenes cementing their relationship.

    Secondary Characters: 5.00:
Kennedy included some extremely interesting, well-developed secondary characters that added greatly to the depth and enjoyment of the story line:  They included: {1} a point of view villain, Vince Angelo; {2} Derek "D" Pratt; {3} Sullivan "Sully" Port; {4} Holden McCall; {5} Kathleen Taylor; {6} Cora Malcolm; {7} Heaven Moore; {8} Liam MacGregor; {9} Ethan Hayes; {10} Adam; and {11} Castle.

Books 2 in the killer instinct series.  I loved the story and the interaction between the characters.  I could picture D's face when Olivia hugged him. I liked that the mail female character was not part of Noel's girls.  As with all of the other books in this series I found it very hard to put down.

The second in the Killer Instincts romantic suspense series is as good if not better than the first.  The men are hot and heroic.  The women are smart and sassy.  What more do you need?  Fans of Lori Fosters Edge of Honor series will enjoy this.
A DEA agent has gone missing and Jim Morgans mercenary group has been hired to find him.  Ladies man Luke needs to get close to Olivia Taylor aka Livie Lovelace a stripper at the Diamond Mine the last place the DEA agent was seen.  The problem is the mobster that runs the joint has claimed Olivia as his and he doesn't share.  Getting close to her will be tough but Luke is up for the job.  What he doesn't expect is what he finds himself feeling for her when he does.  She is not what he expected.  Now all he has to do is find the DEA agent and get Olivia away from the mobster and convince her that he is the guy for her.  He might have more luck knife fighting with Abby.

“Elle Kennedy penned another action packed and heart pounding romantic suspense story!” ~Under the Covers

I’m going to be totally honest here. I was kind of upset that this book wasn’t about Jim and Noelle. Yeah, I know, they probably will be saved for last but I WANTED THEM NOW!!! OK that being said, I started reading MIDNIGHT ALIAS with an open mind and no expectations, since Luke hadn’t been a big presence in the previous book.

Elle Kennedy penned another action packed and heart pounding romantic suspense story! I’m not sure what it is about strip club suspense themes, like Stripped by Tori St. Claire, Riding on Instinct by Jaci Burton or even Delicious by Shayla Black. When done correctly, they end up being very appealing to me. And Elle Kennedy wove the perfect storyline to that old theme.

Olivia Taylor has been stripping to get extra cash and help her mom with her cancer bills and go to college. One night a customer attacks her in the parking lot and she ends up killing him in self defense. Club owner and drug scum, Vince, decides to cover it up and get rid of the body. Ensuring that now Olivia owes him and would finally be his.

Meanwhile, Luke Dubois, sexy cajun and ex Navy, along with Jim’s team are looking for a missing DEA agent that had gone undercover at the same club and could use Olivia’s help to find where he is.

This book had a bit of everything, drugs, deaths, corrupt agents and a whole lot of sexy! Olivia and Luke definitely had sparks and chemistry from the very beginning. I think the author did a great job at spacing out how they got together and the fact that Olivia didn’t just jump into bed with him. But he did put the moves on early on. Yeah, Luke is sexy.

We also get a side story that started brewing in the first book as well. Trevor and Isabelle. They make some great progress and a few steps back in this book and I’m very excited that their story is next!

    Not as good as #1

    ## Good read. Elle Kennedy is one of my favorite authors. That being said, I did not like this book quite as well as the first book of the series. The writing was top notch as usual, but for some reason I couldn't feel a connection between the hero and heroine. And I definitely didn't like that the hero was a smoker. Nothing sexy about that. So, although I did enjoy reading this story, I'm hoping Izzy's and Trevor have more chemistry in the next book and that he doesn't bring up the dead fiance every five minutes.
