Overview

Welcome to the Well World: a construct of an ancient defunct race known as the Markovians. The Well World acts both as the controller of and the gateway to 1560 worlds created by the Markovians at the end of their time.

Nathan Brazil is a starship captain carrying passengers and cargo from planet to planet. Answering a distress call, he (with others) is suddenly transported to the Well World by a hidden gate.

There Nathan Brazil must stop mysterious forces from taking control of the Well World, and through the Well World, the universe. But to do so, he must deal with bizarre transformations which have changed people into centaurs, mermaids and giant insects. In this strange land, inhabited by these strange transformed creatures, who are his friends, and who are his enemies? And what of his own memories, which seem to have been deeply suppressed?

Midnight at the Well of Souls is the first book set in the Well World universe.

A must read for any SF book lover!

Ah the well world series, I remember stumbling upon 'shadow of the well of souls' in a used book store so many years ago and after that I needed MORE! I now proudly own the whole well saga series and his trilogy. Its a total of 10 books however most are very hard to find anywhere and its best to buy online. Anyway this book was great it kept me on my toes and it never slowed down like some books tend to half way through. The whole series is great and I highly recomend you start at book one and read it in order however this series is also good to read starting anywhere by the way he writes. Simply put one of my best reads thus far I just hope he decides to one day come back to the well saga series though it may be slim heres to hoping *lifts his glass*

    It's back

I missed the Well World novels as I was growing up, but I was always aware of their presence and importance in the world of sci-fi literature. Then when I saw that Baen Books was reprinting the series I bought Midnight at the Well of Souls. Midnight has everything you could ask for in great escape and once you've finish it, I'd be surprised if you didn't run out and buy Exiles at the Well of Souls.
