John stared at the two dime-sized holes in the front of the suspect's head. Well, one was dime sized and the other was where his eye was supposed to be.

From this angle, you wouldn't have guessed that those two small holes would have left that large a puddle around the guy's head. No doubt, the exit wounds on the back of his head were much larger.

Overview

John stared at the two dime-sized holes in the front of the suspect's head. Well, one was dime sized and the other was where his eye was supposed to be.

From this angle, you wouldn't have guessed that those two small holes would have left that large a puddle around the guy's head. No doubt, the exit wounds on the back of his head were much larger.

'I'll give you credit for being fast on the draw, but your aim sucks.' That made him laugh, again. It also irritated the bullet lodged between his ribs as the blood began to flow down his chest faster.

'Damn, that hurts.'

Sergeant John Gast is about to start another midnight shift, just three days before Christmas. Only this day will be like no other in his career. A present, the body of a young woman, is left for him in front of his home. The killer entices him with a message, almost saying, 'Catch me if you can.' As the deep winter cold, of a Midnight Chill, crawls up his spine, he is left wondering, Why was this crime committed? Who is responsible? How many more would there be?

In the course of his investigation, more of the dark gifts are left by the perpetrator. John soon realizes that the killer has all the trademarks of someone with a legal background, but whom? Suspecting everyone, John must fight the corrupt upper echelon of his own department to stop a serial killer with no fear. How can you catch a serial killer when you suspect everyone in your own department, including you!

Midnight Chill was a great 1st book for Jack Cole. A thriller to be sure! Midnight Chill provides detail of the crime scenes that is very intense at times. There is just enough romance to keep the book interesting for readers of romance novels, without deterring readers of a thriller. Looking forward to book 2!
