Overview

Phoenix Light is a typical kid living in a nice home. She has two parents who are okay and an older brother she adores. Her world collapses around her when her dad rushes in the house and switches on the television to see enemy soldiers are taking over their world as they know it. Luckily, her father knew an attack was imminent and he built a vast shelter in the mountains for their family and thousands of others.
What the people on earth don't know is the war is much more than a human take-over. The forces of good and evil are battling and the humans are their pawns. Jayden, A Dark Angel, is a servant of Vyco and sent in to lead the survivors to their death, but the first person he meets is Phoenix and he finds he can't destroy her.
Jayden and Phoenix fall in love in spite of the battles around them and lean on their friends and family along the way. Jayden has to make the decision to choose good or evil. Will Phoenix stay human, or become immortal and join Jayden? Can she give up her friends and family? Will she have to choose?

Meet the Author

Melody has had a passion for writing since she was a little girl. Her first book was written at around the age of ten, and it was about a handsome prince Charming rescuing his princess and taking her away to his castle to live happily ever after. She continued to write through her teenage years, but never with the expectation to ever publish anything. Around 2007 Melody realized that she had finished her first full manuscript, and looked at it in awe. She had around a hundred books started on her computer, but had never finished one before. She was so ecstatic about her accomplishment that she jumped in to work on another book. She finished five books in a three year period, and then started thinking about possibly publishing those books. Now she's thrilled to be an author, loving every minute of what she does.

This book literally left me speechless. To be honest, im not really big on the war-between-heaven-and-hell type books, but this book had me mesmorized by page one. Highly recommended. Older child appropriate. The only thing sexual about it was kissing, and they only cussed once, so it was a very nice change. Will leave you wanting more. Hope my revie helps :) -Taylor :)

I'm not even sure how to describe this. YA/dystopian/religious/evil vs good/fated mates.....a real mosh of genres and to be honest, it did not work for me.

This book started out pretty good but I ended up skimming the last 200+ pages because it got very childish in its descriptions and portrayal of emotions. I felt like I was reading a romance written by someone in middle school.

Hated it. The writing was awful. It felt like it was written by a twelve year old, which is confusing, since I've read other books by this author. While they weren't the best ever, the writing was much better than in this.

This book had a little bit of everything in it. I couldn't stop reading it. Such a great story, with amazing characters. This was unlike anything I've read lately. It's a battle between good and evil, but it focused on the lives of these people who escaped being captured when the world was taken over by terrorist. The focus is on a group of people who hide in the forest, but then feel guilty that so many others are dying so they start to fight back. Phoenix and Jayden are a perfect couple and they make you want to come back to see more and more what they are doing. I just got book 2 and can't wait to see how their story continues. If you love books like the hunger games or city of lost bones, then I'd recommend this book. So good, now I have to start on Midnight Moon.

I know most people prefer her adult romance books but I will tell you something this book is awesome. I am not a huge YA fan but this book was truly a fun read.

I have to say that this is by far the BEST free book i have ever read ( ive read about a hundred at least so thats saying something) In fact, i cant believe its free! Its great for any fantasy lover with a romantic twist. This book is complete with angels, demons, gods, and more. Its an amazing story about humans coming together (with other not so human beings) to fight a dark force that has nearly destroyed the human race. It definitaly deserves five stars.

At first, I wasnt sure about this book. It isn't normally my type of book, but I loved all her other books so I gave it a chance and I'm so glad I did. I liked how Phoenix told her story through her notebook to give a backstory while the main story was going on. It was all wonderfully written and the characters were real and engaging. The story line was different, so I didn't feel like this was just another book about armageddon. I can't wait to find out what happens next! Chalk this up to another success for Melody Anne!

The concept of this book is interesting. It needs major editing and revision to make it flow better. Going from present to flashback to a different character's prespective is distracting and confusing. The dialog is stilted at times. The author did use spellcheck, but uses similar sounding but incorrect words for the ones needed indicating her probable youth and poor grasp of the English language. All that said, the story is engaging and I kept reading. Be aware that this is one of a series and while not a cliffhanger, isn't the whole story. I'm not sure I will purchase the next book. I have read a couple of Melody Anne's romances and they were better written and better edited. I recommend this book with the above reservations.

Interesting book - I really like the family dynamics but I thought it was odd that all the parents "knew" to build a shelter in the woods....random but still a great read and I csnt wait to read the next in the series.
