Gritty and steamy.

Very suspenseful.
Library Journal
This novella was originally published in the 1998 Christmas anthology Silent Night. While most people are celebrating the holiday, a murderer escapes from prison and returns with plans to torture and kill each of the people responsible for his incarceration. Lt. Eve Dallas quickly figures out who the perpetrator is and has protection placed on each of the intended victims. Despite this strategy, the killer kidnaps the people one by one. When Eve's friend Dr. Mira is kidnapped, Eve goes to the limit to save her. Fans of the Eve Dallas mysteries will want to listen to this, but it's not as satisfying as the longer books. While the mystery is riveting, the futuristic details and comedy that usually brighten the series are missing. Susan Ericksen has read many of Robb's futuristic crime novels and is adept at portraying Eve and her loyal friends. However, the brevity of the work doesn't allow Ericksen's talents to shine. Still, recommended for mystery collections.-Juleigh Muirhead Clark, John D. Rockefeller Jr. Lib., Colonial Williamsburg Fdn., VA Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
