The winds of fate have blown cruelly on a family that once had it all: money, power, prestige. The lives of three beautiful daughters were forever changed when, on a sultry night in Midnight, Alabama, a murder-suicide shattered the Wilde family. The girls grew up to live separate lives but now have returned home, each to face a danger no one can see coming.

Former homecoming queen Samantha surprised everyone by going into law enforcement, but beneath her tough façade lies a wary heart. The tragedy that struck her family is an ever-present reminder that nothing is ever as it seems. When the man she loves, Quinn Braddock, a doctor and Iraq war veteran, is accused of murder, Samantha assumes the worst. Brokenhearted, her confidence shattered, she returns to Midnight. Though exonerated, Quinn still feels the sting of Samantha's doubt, but he can't forget his feelings for her and follows her. Soon after his arrival, a shocking murder terrifies the town, and once again, Quinn is under suspicion. This time, Samantha will not turn her back on the man she loves—even if it means walking into a killer's trap.

Chapter One

Atlanta, Georgia

Five months ago

Charlene Braddock slammed her laptop closed and hurled it across the bedroom. The hard thud as it crashed against the wall gave her no satisfaction or relief. Jealousy and bitterness sizzled and burned like acid inside her. After three years of trying and failing to regain her ex-husband’s affections, she was no closer than the day he’d shoved the divorce papers in her face and demanded she sign them or else. Remembering that look in his eyes always made her shiver. He had been furious. Those steely blue eyes of his had blazed with a passion and intensity she had rarely seen. Instead of dissolving their marriage, she had wanted to tear off her clothes and let him work out all that anger and aggression on her body. When Quinn Braddock got worked up, her libido went into overdrive.

Of course, she’d done nothing of the sort, since she wouldn’t have received the response she desired. Quinn’s control was legendary. Fury might envelop him but it would never consume him. He kept his emotions on a tight leash. Even their final argument before he’d walked out the door for the last time hadn’t produced any drama. Sure, there had been full-blown anger, but he’d never let himself get out of control.

Not that Quinn was a cold fish. Oh no, there was definitely passion in him. She had felt and tasted its intensity. Early in their marriage, he had been insatiable. Back then their apartment had been small and there hadn’t been a wall or flat surface where they hadn’t screwed like minxes.

His career had ruined them. Long hours of work had left her alone with too much time on her hands. Quinn was a gifted doctor with an excellent reputation. Nice for him, but her life had become tedious. When she had complained about her boredom, Quinn’s solution had been for her to find a job or do volunteer work. She had wanted to laugh in his face. She was the wife of a physician—she didn’t have to do anything so mundane or common.

That was the day she’d gone out and had her first fling. Getting back at Quinn that way had given her immense satisfaction, so she had continued—discreetly, of course—enjoying the pleasures that illicit relationships could bring. Down-and-dirty sex with a variety of men brought delicious danger to a whole new level. Unfortunately satisfaction from each encounter only provided a temporary fix. Charlene had still wanted more. More of what, she didn’t know. She had only known she wasn’t getting it from Quinn. It became a vicious circle. The more he pulled away from her, the more she craved his attention, which increased her need to screw around even more.

It was all his fault. She had hoped one day he would understand that and come back to her.

Charlene glared over at the ruined laptop. The local online news report confirmed what she had long feared. Quinn had a new woman in his life. One who was, no doubt, giving him everything he wanted in the bedroom.

Memories of some of their happier times went through her mind. Her eyes closed on a shiver of arousal. Vanilla sex with Quinn Braddock was better than the hard and rough stuff she got from all her other lovers combined.

Still, she loved the hard, often brutal sex play. Her newest lover gave “dangerous liaisons” a whole new meaning. He certainly had no issues with giving her all she could take. Sometimes he gave her much more than she could handle. Last time, it had gotten so rough, she’d been almost afraid she wouldn’t survive. She had begged him to stop. Not that he had. He had told her his loss of control was because of his desire for her and not because he liked to inflict pain. She didn’t care what his reasons were. As long as he provided the pleasure she needed, she would keep him. When that ended, so would their relationship.

But she wanted Quinn back, too. They could be good together again if he would just stop being such a tight-ass.

Charlene cursed the day he’d found her with that weasel Nate Lockhart. Not only had the bastard been a poor substitute for her husband, he’d been ridiculously unimaginative. Every time he did something to her, he’d ask if she liked it. Hell, he should have had enough balls not to care.

It had been a mistake to seduce Nate. Having her husband’s friend screwing her brains out had been fun the first couple of times. Quinn wouldn’t give her the attention she needed, so it had been another way to get back at him. She’d even gotten off on it when she had been having sex with Quinn, thinking how delicious it was to have him inside her where only hours before his friend had been pumping away.

She hadn’t expected Quinn to walk in and find them screwing in Nate’s office. It had been her little secret, exciting and dangerous.

Quinn’s reaction might have been the most humiliating part of all. He had laughed. Even now, years later, she could hear that abrupt bark of laughter. He had seemed genuinely amused and almost relieved. Dammit to hell, how had it all gone so wrong?

This new woman Quinn was seeing . . . who was she? Of course, Quinn had dated several women since they had divorced. He wasn’t a monk. But neither was he one to be caught on camera with a woman unless he wanted to be. Was this the woman who would finally take him away from her forever?

The photograph from the fundraiser had been frustratingly bad. The shot showed Quinn’s profile as he looked down at his companion. But even the bad picture made it look as though Charlene’s tall, gorgeous ex-husband was enamored of the woman. His half smile, with that sexy, quirky edge, had been only for the female beside him. The photo had just shown the back of the woman. Straight, thick hair fell halfway down her back. She was a blonde. Well, dammit, so was Charlene. And a real one at that. This bitch probably got her color from a bottle. And she was fat and wore frumpy clothes, too.

Charlene blew out a frustrated sigh. Okay, so she wasn’t exactly fat, but she was nothing like Charlene, who spent hours each week with a personal trainer, honing her body to taut, slender perfection.

But at least Charlene was right about the woman’s dress. It was definitely not designer made and was conservative by anyone’s standards. With Quinn’s talents, he was destined to move up in his career. He had a reputation to maintain. One would think he would be more careful in his selection of dates for high-profile events.

On impulse, Charlene grabbed her cellphone from the nightstand. She couldn’t let it go . . . she had to try one more time. They’d had some good times, especially at the beginning. If she could just get him to stop being so uptight. His straight-shooter Eagle Scout demeanor had been charming at first but had worn thin after a while. Living with such perfection could be damn irritating.

He answered on the first ring, his groggy “Braddock” telling her she’d woken him. She refused to feel any guilt for interrupting what was probably much-needed sleep. This was important, dammit.

“It’s me, Quinn. I need to see you.”

An explosive sigh came through the phone, making her glad she’d woken him up. The asshole!

“What is it this time, Charlene?”

Her eyes roamed around the massive bedroom, searching for some new hook to get him to the house. The necklace draped casually on her dresser caught her attention. She hated the thing. Her taste in jewelry ran toward bold and spectacular. The pearl-and-diamond necklace was a Braddock family heirloom, much too understated and old-fashioned for her. Quinn had given it to her a couple of weeks before they married. She’d never worn it, but when he’d asked for it in their divorce settlement, she had gleefully declined. Just one more twist of the knife. He’d been more pissed about her refusal to return the necklace than he had been about finding her screwing Nate. Yes, he would jump at the chance to get it back.

“I’ve decided to return the Braddock necklace to you.”

“Why? What’s the catch?”

Dammit, he didn’t even try to hide his suspicion.

“No catch. I hate the thing. But if you don’t want it, I’ll just—”

“Fine. I’ll come by this evening and—”

“No, I’m busy this evening. You need to come right away or I’m selling it to a jewelry store.”

The long pause that followed made her wonder if she’d played her hand too forcibly. She had tried to entice him over to the house before and had been successful only a few times. But this was something he really wanted.

“I’ll be there within the hour. Meet me at the door with it. I won’t come in.”

She smiled her satisfaction. We’ll just see about that.

“Of course, darling. Whatever you say.” She ended the call and raced to her closet. She had just the outfit for seducing a reluctant ex-husband back into her bed.

The cellphone in her hand rang. Charlene cursed, sure that Quinn was calling to cancel. She glanced down at the display. Recognizing the number, she sighed, part in relief, part in frustration. Phone to her ear, she opened her closet door as she said, “Darling, how are you?”

“Horny.”

Her lovers were usually all about pleasing her. From the beginning, this man had been different. He never sugarcoated what he wanted. Sweet talk and flowers were not his way. And though occasionally he was too crass even for her, the things he did to her in bed made up for his inadequacies. Unfortunately this wasn’t a good time for him to be horny and demanding.

“I’m sorry, darling, but I have an appointment in a few minutes. Can you come by tonight?”

“An appointment? With whom?”

Though she resented his nosiness, she hesitated in not telling him. His temper had a volatile edge. A couple of times she’d pissed him off and he’d gone way beyond the pain-filled pleasurable lovemaking she enjoyed and into something intensely scary. The last time that had happened, she’d had to hide the bruises for days.

“My ex-husband is dropping by to discuss our divorce settlement.”

“I thought your divorce was settled a long time ago.”

“It was, but I kept a piece of jewelry he wanted. I’m redecorating my bedroom and came across it while I was putting things away for the workers to come in.”

She winced. Dammit, now she’d probably have to do some kind of decorating just to keep him from asking about it later. If he ever learned she had invited Quinn over to get him into bed . . . She shivered at the thought.

“I’ll be there tonight at six. Be ready for me.”

A different kind of shiver swept through her. After their first time together, he had set ground rules and expectations. One of those was preparing herself for him. He had given her a list of do’s and don’ts, including where to shave, what perfume and makeup to wear, what music to have playing when he walked in the door, and what food he required after their playtime had ended. And always, he wanted her naked.

“I’ll be ready,” she answered with her most sultry tone.

The line went dead and Charlene dropped the phone on the chair beside her. She only had a few minutes to get ready for Quinn. She pulled the lace-and-silk black negligee from its hanger and stripped out of her robe. Anticipation and nervousness made her normally graceful movements stilted. It had been years since she and Quinn had slept together. Would he notice that her breasts were larger and perkier? The plastic surgeon had done a marvelous job with them; Quinn had always been a breast man.

After slipping the skimpy gown over her head, she stood in front of the full-length mirror to assess her allure. Damn, she looked good. Though she had just passed her thirty-fifth birthday, she didn’t look a day over twenty-five. Her tits and ass were sublime. There was no way in hell Quinn could resist her. So what if she’d slept around? It was past time for him to get over that.

The doorbell rang. She glanced sharply at her clock. He was way too early. She hurriedly put on the necklace he was coming for and then took one last glance in the mirror. His timing didn’t really matter. Even with the too-demure necklace, she looked fabulous.

Running lightly down the stairs, Charlene almost laughed with sheer happiness. Things would work out, she was sure of it. Quinn would be enamored of her again, take her to bed and do all sorts of delicious things to her. And tonight her lover could take care of any remaining sexual needs she might have. What had begun as a lousy day might well be her best ever. Her nipples tightened in anticipation of the coming events.

She opened the door. “Darling, it’s so good—” Stopping abruptly, she stared. “What are you doing here? I told you I had an appointment.”

Eyes gleaming wickedly, he moved forward, giving her no choice but to retreat to the middle of the foyer.

He closed the door behind him and sneered, “Is this the kind of outfit you wear to greet your ex-husband?”

Charlene held back a huff of exasperation. The last thing she needed was for him to be here when Quinn arrived. She should have lied when he had asked about her appointment.

“I was just about to change into something more appropriate.”

“But he is coming over. Right?”

“Quinn? Yes, he’ll be here in just a few minutes.”

“Then there’s not much time, is there?”

“Time for what?”

He came closer. “For this.”

Charlene looked down at something gleaming in his hand. “What is . . . ?” She frowned, confused. “Is that my knife? Where did you . . . ? I’ve been looking all over the place for—”

The knife thrust toward her. So startled by the attack, she barely felt the pain in her shoulder. Frozen, she stared up at him in horror. Then, as realization hit, she screamed.

In a gleaming arc, it came down again.

“No, stop, please . . . Stop!”

She stumbled backward and turned to run. Too late. Agony exploded in her shoulder and back. This time the pain was intense . . . urgent. Twisting around, Charlene screamed as she raised her hands to fight back, slapping ineffectually as the knife descended again and again. Slashing, ripping, destroying.

Blood was everywhere. He was ruining her beautiful gown. The pain was excruciating . . . unbearable. Why, why, why?

The floor appeared before her, slamming into her face. She lay, panting, too tired to cry, too stunned to speak.

A voice from above whispered silkily: “How about it, darling? Was it as good for you as it was for me?”

4-4.5 stars from me! I did not read book 1 in the Wildefire series, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this fantastic book. In fact, I liked it so much, first chance I get, I am going to go back and read book 1. I have to be honest. From the moment I started reading Midnight Lies, I was hooked. The book starts off strong and leaves you gasping for more.

Samantha is one of the sexy Wilde sisters and a cop. She has a smexy sexy times relationship going on with doctor Quinn. All is going good until his ex turns up dead and Quinn becomes the numero uno person of interest. Samantha gets the hell out of dodge and goes back to Midnight and to her sisters, where they are busy opening up their own PI firm. That's where the best part of the story begins. Quinn comes to Midnight and works hard to get Samantha back.

I really liked all the drama and mysteriousness that unfolded. I would have never thought murder solving in a romance novel would appeal to me, but it did...and in a big way. Kudos to the author for being able to do that. I fell completely in love with Quinn and I was so frustrated at Samantha for not understanding and believing in him.

Those Wilde sisters are a hoot and I cannot wait to read more. I am hooked on this series.

I couldn't wait for Midnight Lies. Midnight Lies is Samantha and Quinn's story. Once I got started I couldn't put it down. It was unbelievably good. It even a surprise twist at the end - I always love those. You must read this book, because neither Ella Grace nor Christy Reece ever disappoint you. This book is different from Christy's books, but it is just as wonderful. Now I have to wait for Sabrina's book :(. Hurry up, Christy!

So I don¿t think there is anything Ella Grace (aka Christy Reece

So I don’t think there is anything Ella Grace (aka Christy Reece) could write that I wouldn’t absolutely love! I’m loving seeing how Savannah, Samantha, and Sabrina have been impacted by the tragedy of their parents death. Each has been impacted, but they have all grown into amazing strong women.

Samantha and Quinn’s journey isn’t smooth what with a crazed killer out there and their own issues from their pasts, but neither one could let go of their love for each other.

Speaking of the crazy killer I had a pretty good idea who the villain was…Ella Grace still managed to shock me!

I can’t wait to read Sabrina’s story! I hope I don’t have to wait too long for it!

Samantha Wilde did everything she could to take notice off her parents murder/suicide. Growing up she always strived for perfection. When she left for college, no one would ever of believed she'd become a police detective...but that is exactly what she did.

When the man of her dreams, Quinn Braddock, is accused of murdering his ex-wife all Samantha's demons resurface. The slight doubt of his innocence kills their budding relationship and ultimately sends Samantha home to Midnight, Alabama to join her other two identical sisters.

Quinn belatedly finds out Samantha was responsible for clearing his name before she left town. Realizing what he lost, he pursues Samantha back to Midnight. Not willing to open her heart up again, Quinn must convince Samantha that he is worth the risk.

When woman around Quinn show up murdered again, Samantha must decided if she believes in Quinn and her instincts enough to save them both.

A fabulous addition to the Wildefire series, Midnight Lies once again pulls us deep into the Wilde sister's lives...especially Samantha. I found this story to be a fantastic romantic thriller, filled with a perfect amount of suspense and plot twists to keep you riveted to the pages.

I especially enjoy the fact that a two single and steamy new detectives have joined forces with the Wildfire Detective Agency, I can't wait to see where this series leads next.

This book is the second in a Wildefire series but it can easily be read as a stand alone...although I recommend you don't miss Midnight Secrets.

I received this ARC copy of Midnight Lies from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication September 24, 2013.

    I Also Recommend:

The second book in the Wildfire series has romance, suspense, so

The second book in the Wildfire series has romance, suspense, some action and characters that will keep you intrigued to the very end.
The romance between the Wilde sister, Samantha and Dr. Quinn Braddock is a on again, off again roller coaster ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat. They have great chemistry together and the emotional upheaval of these two is very engaging.  With their pasts getting in the way, can they overcome their problems and have their ever after or not?
The small town of Midnight and all of its secondary characters add a lot depth to the story. There is lots of  suspense interwoven into the story when the hero and heroine are faced with the challenge of overcoming hidden enemies and the mystery keeps you guessing throughout the book with the killer remaining hidden until the last minute.
Overall I found this story very entertaining with its interesting plot and wonderful characters. The author did an excellent job of combining all the elements of a good romantic suspense and I am looking forward to reading more about the people of Midnight.

Another great addition to The Wildfire Series! Samantha and Quinn's story is a page turner that will keep the reader up late into the night, because they won't want to put it down without knowing what happens next. Ella knows how to write a hot southern romance. She brings the southern charm to life. Quinn is a hero that all men want to be and all women want to love. I highly recommend anyone that loves romance to read this book. I can't wait for the third book in this series!! Cscott

I would really love to move to Midnight Alabama, or anywhere else this author dreams up.  This book kept me captivated from cover to cover.  It was also a book that got me in some trouble, since I couldn't put it down, and read way in to the night, not a lot got done in my house until Quinn was put to rest on my shelf.  This book gave you everything you could want, suspense along with romance but then you get sister relationships thrown in and a town full of murder suspects.  It was awesome, I can't wait to see what the final sister brings....I am also hoping that their sidekicks that have helped out from time to time will also get a story!!

I adored the first book in this series, but this one was so much more emotional for me. The roller coaster with Sammie and Quinn was gut-wrenching (and never annoying like you find in some books). Throw in the sweetness that is the Deep South and the sisters, along with some mystery/suspense over who the killer is, and you've got a complete winner. I was rooting for Sammie and Quinn all the way. Can't wait for Bri's story!

    Midnight Lies

(ARC received from Netgalley and Ballantine Books)

    Quick Synopsis:

Midnight Lies does not take place in the town of Midnight right away but rather starts you out in Atlanta at the apartment of a woman named Charlene who is the ex of one of the main characters that readers will read about in this book. Her storyline starts by her trying to lure her ex husband Quinn back to in to her life by inviting him over to get a necklace that belongs to family. However, things don't go as planned for Charlene as she ends up dead and the murder looks to be blamed on Quinn.

As the book continues on you learn about Sam who turns out to be Quinn's new girlfriend and one of the main characters in the book who links this story to the town of midnight. For readers who read the first story in this series it will make sense who she is. Sam tries and is able to help clear him of the charges but ultimately is not able to find the person who murdered his ex and Quinn pushes her away. By pushing her away Sam ultimately moves back to Midnight hoping to escape her past but ultimately everything ends up following her there including Quinn. Will Sam be able to move on from Quinn when he is living in the same town as her?

    My Review:

Having really liked the first book in the series Midnight Secrets I was very excited to see this book pop up on Netgalley and requested to read it right away. Initially when I started this book and you were first introduced to Charlene I was unsure of how she was connected to midnight and where was this story ultimately going. However, after getting into the first couple chapters I was hooked. I felt like this book was well written and very thought out. It has the right mix of romance and mystery/suspense. In the beginning I was lost but once you got in more you really felt at times that you were standing right next to Sam going through everything that she was going through. It was also very nice how she incorporated the other two sisters in the story and how she keeps their stories going on even if they are not the main characters.

The only thing that I did not like was one particular storyline she put in the book she at times talked a little about it and at the end gives you very little information on what the status is. I know she did it for a reason because it will lead you into the next book about Sabrina but I felt she could have maybe gone into it a little bit more.

I am very interested to see what the next book holds as it will be about Sabrina the last Wilde sister and her partner from back in Florida. I will be interested to see how she leads you into the book and where the story ultimately takes you. If I had to read this book I would give it a 4 out of 5.

This book was awesome. It keeps you guessing all the way to the end. I loved Midnight Secrets and Savannah's story and was wondering how
Samantha's could top it, but she did. Even if you haven't read the first one, this book stands alone but I highly recommend reading both of
them and if you can start with Midnight Secrets first. This book grabs you at the beginning and doesn't let go until the end. With very few
pages left, I finally figured out who did it, but there was still a twist I didn't see coming. I am from a small town in Alabama and Midnight is
really how they work. Everyone know's everyone else's business or at least they think they do. I couldn't help but smile with the I'll swan
, I heard that a good bit from some of my great aunts. I really don't want to give away anything, it is so much better if you just read it.
Trust me you will love it.  There were some tears along the way but if a romantic novel doesn't make me cry at least a little, it isn't
a very good book.I can't wait to read Sabrina's story in the next Wildefire Series. I am hopeful as to who the male lead will be but I
haven't looked ahead to anything, since I just love going into a book without knowing too much at first.  If it is an author you love, just trust
that whatever they write will never disappoint. At least everything Ella Grace (aka Christy Reece)  has written I have loved.
. Can't wait for anything and everything else she writes.

Love this book and the series so far! This is Samantha's book...who is as brave and strong and exciting as any heroine that I have ever "met". The Wilde sisters are so brave and are 100% loyal to eachother, and to those that they love. The town of Midnight, where the story is set is one that we all wish we could live in, come from, or grow old in. So many great supporting characters! 5 full stars!

    Auh-mazin! Loved it!

Samantha and Quinn have a lot of issues they need to work out before they can be together. Since Quinn was accused of murdering his ex-wife it has really brought all her doubts to the surface and made her reevaluate their relationship and really question who Quinn really is. Quinn on the other hand sees this doubt that Samantha has and just completely shuts her out until he learns about her involvement in clearing his name.

I love a book that has me captivated from the very start. Midnight Secrets was the same way and Midnight Lies didn't disappoint. I had difficulty putting this book down. The suspense is fantastic and the story line is held my interest. You think the story is going in one place but it goes in a completely different direction. However, there were a few predictable parts and I picked out the villain fairly early.

Overall, I loved it. It was exciting, the story was great and the sex was steamy. I am really excited for the next book and I love the set up we get for Sabrina's story.

    BOOK SYNOPSIS

The Wilde sisters of Midnight return in this thrilling novel of romantic suspense, perfect for fans of Maya Banks, Allison Brennan, and Lori Foster.

    IT’S ALWAYS HOTTER AT MIDNIGHT.

Though exonerated, Quinn still feels the sting of Samantha’s doubt, but he can’t forget his feelings for her and follows her. Soon after his arrival, a shocking murder terrifies the town, and once again, Quinn is under suspicion. This time, Samantha will not turn her back on the man she loves—even if it means walking into a killer’s trap.

    My Thoughts

This was an immediate emotional roller coaster ride, the murder of his ex put ER surgeon on the police's #1 suspect list and no matter how he tried to make them listen the investigating detectives were convinced they had the right man. Sam Wilde is one of very few female police officers in Atlanta but as the lover of the accused she feels she must prove Quinn's innocence of the heinous crime, even though she has her doubts she cannot help but think that the man she has grown to love could not be a cold blooded killer!

Fast paced action plus absolutely the best romantic male lead whose smooth sexy talking will melt the coldest heart as it sure did mine and I am a die-hard romantic anyway so it was not hard to make it melt!

Quinn and Samantha are truly well thought out and well executed characters as is the push-pull dynamics of their very volatile and combustible relationship and the small town is totally realistically portrayed in all it's charming glory as it sounds both a blessing to live in as well as having the drawback of myriad busybodies who seem to work overtime at the slightest provocation.

From sweetly oblivious to her lack of culinary skills Aunt Gibby to elderly Inez who can always be counted on to know the latest gossip to the taciturn Faye who is owner and creator of culinary delights in her restaurant everyone featured as a secondary character truly brings to life the town of Midnight for the reader. I was delighted at how the author managed to incorporate both of Sam's sisters as part of the story as well as sister Savannah's husband Zach who is the chief of police and the two men who helped set up the sisters Wildefire Agency as Brody and Logan played fairly important roles in the story as well.

The different plot twists that integrate together and come to a startling conclusion when the true identity of the murderer is revealed was one that kind of got the gist of but was pleasantly surprised that had guessed correctly anyway. As a romantic suspense this thriller delivered in spades with enough dramatic tension offset by the relationship pitfalls that Quinn and Sam had to wade their way through until finally their path to happiness could be smoothed.

Wish now would have read book 1 Midnight Secrets but did not feel too out of the loop regardless of not being up to speed with all the back story of the Wilde sisters and the town of Midnight.

Samantha Wilde, one of the Wilde triplets, has left her job as a police officer in Atlanta and moved back to Midnight to work with her sisters and get over her relationship with Dr. Quinn Braddock. They broke up when Quinn was accused of murdering his ex-wife. He didn't do it and Samantha was the one who went the extra to find evidence to exonerate him but her initial doubt played havoc with their relationship. It appears that Quinn too is having a hard time with their breakup because he shows up in Midnight wanting to start over. When a woman is murdered in Midnight just like Quinn’s ex Samantha is determined to show Quinn she believes in him even if it may cost her own life.
Dr. Braddock has issues, lots of issues. Of course so does Samantha. Together they are wonderful, apart not so much. Samantha believes in romance and after Quinn’s disastrous marriage he is less than thrilled with the concept. This is a story of second chances and redemption. This book has it all - murder, mayhem, and romance. It also has small town gossip and backstabbing, hunky men and steamy southern nights. I can’t wait for Bri's story.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review but I would have bought it if I hadn't

I am a long time Ella Grace aka Christy Reece fan. She writes captivating stories that I tend to devour in a day or two, schedule permitting. Midnight Lies definitely delivered the same heart-stopping suspense and mind blowing action, in and out of the bedroom :)

Quinn and Samantha start out with a no-strings relationship that comes to a quick halt. With Quinn being accused of murdering his ex-wife, the trust between him and Sam is tenuous at best, and they just cannot muster through the rough patch together. Sam jets off back to her hometown to be with her sisters. The triplets, Savannah, Samantha and Sabrina have recently been through the ringer with news of their parents murder just coming to light. Samantha is back in Midnight, Alabama to heal and start a private investigation agency with her sisters. To her shock Quinn follows soon after, to rekindle their relationship but also do a little healing of his own. These two have been through more than one person should, and two scared souls don't always equal a whole one. Sam and Quinn know they have a mountain of problems to deal with but they can't seem to get past their doubts in one another.

To me, Quinn is such a peculiar character. His mannerisms and dedication to getting Sam back are a sight to behold. With all he has been through he still refuses to admit defeat. Sam has been dealt just as crappy a hand as Quinn, and eventually resolves to re-dedicate herself to their relationship. Ms. Grace is known for taking two broken hearts and making a healed one. Her heroines are just as kickass as their heroes. I have to admire Samantha for standing by Quinn throughout the ordeals in this book, she refuses to let him run. Quinn is one of those men that love to misplace guilt onto themselves. I have this image in my mind, Quinn is packing all of this guilt into a suitcase and Samantha is next to him unpacking each bit.

The twists and turns in Midnight Lies had me setting aside my e-reader a couple of times. Ella Grace writes intense story lines that are frightening because they seem too real to be fiction, but it's hard to swallow that kind of reality. Midnight Lies sucked me in until I was completely submerged in the characters' lives. When I had to take a break I felt bereft, like I was just on a rollercoaster and then it came to a screeching halt and my head is still spinning. The Willdefire books have bits of overlap so information that I thought would be solved in this one is actually for the next book. I was guessing the whole time where this story was going to end up. Suffice to say I did not have a clue until the last couple of chapters. Midnight Lies is a magnificent suspense/contemporary romance book and while you're waiting for it to come out go pick up Midnight Secrets for Savannah's story!

    Happy Reading!
